Sixpence None the Richer – Kiss Me // Baby Daddy Season 3, Episode 21
This well known track plays as Riley sings to Ben at the block party … Although you know the track, chances are you don’t know the band as this is their most memorable hit. It’s hard to believe that it was released in 1998 originally, and it’s featured in countless episodes of television and film such as Dawson’s Creek, She’s All That and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Their last studio album, Lost in Transition, was released in 2012 and didn’t do too much business, but we’re guessing the band members are too busy sitting back and counting the royalty coins to care very much.
Sarah Blaine – Never Get to Heaven // Pretty Little Liars Season 5, Episode 2
Poor Mrs Di Laurentis! As her body gets dug up like a tasty bone by Pepe the dog, Never Get to Heaven by Sarah Blaine plays. Are the producers trying to tell us something?! This is a beautiful, ominous track sung by the incredibly talented Ms Blaine, who resides in Los Angeles and lists her pastimes as singing and drinking tea. Check out the full scene below:
Echosmith – Come with Me // Beauty and the Beast Season 2, Episode 19
Our favorite Angelino teen band are back on the box again! This time, the upbeat Come With Me plays as Tess tells Heather that Cat is in love with Vincent. We can help but love the infectious little hook in this song, which is taken from the eminently listenable album Talking Dreams. Check out the adorable stop motion video for the song below!
Kye Kye – Broke // Awkward. Season 4, Episode 10
This is a trippy tune that plays whilst Jenna is looking for Matty at the ski trip and misses her chance to see Luke. We really like the relaxed vibe of the song, which isn’t quite like a lot of mainstream music today. Kye Kye get their strange name from the fact that they’re made up of three Estonian-born siblings, and we like the fact that their sound transcends musical genres. They released their second studio album, Fantasize, in January 2014, although Young Love actually comes from their debut album Young Love. Check it out:
Joy Classic – Splash // Awkward. Season 4, Episode 10
This is a background track that plays as the students have fun hanging out at the ski lodge, and it definitely seems like a great deal of fun was had in the creation of this song and video. Baltimore rockers Joy Classic definitely revel in their 60’s/70’s type psychadelic vibe, and the video for Splash is doused in color. Splash comes from their debut EP Youth Buzz which dropped last summer. Check it out!
