Amy Stroup – Falling //Pretty Little Liars, Season 5 Episode 4
This song by Amy Stroup is playing as Hanna steals a dress after talking to Spencer on the phone. Amy is an old hand at the Pretty Little Liars game as her song ‘With Wings’ featured in season 2. She’s currently based out of Nashville, and as well as her solo material she performs with her pithily titled band Sugar and the Hi Lows. Her third solo album, Tunnel, is out now.
Little Daylight – Overdose // Pretty Little Liars, Season 5 Episode 4
Aria is in the computer lab tooling around when she receives an ominous IM, and Overdose plays in the background. This is an awesome track by Brooklyn trio Little Daylight, who started out doing remixes for Passion Pit, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Neighbourhood and others. You can hear these influences in Little Daylight’s debut EP, Tunnel Vision, an indie electro work with lashings of complex melodies. Check out the video and Soundcloud for Overdose below:
Maya Jane Coles – Easier to Hide // Degrassi, Season 13 Episode 35
Woah! Things kick up a gear when Tristan kisses Mr H and this track by Maya Jane Coles plays in the background to keep things steamy. This is ambient house at its finest from Brit Maya Jane Coles, who also produces dub-step under the moniker Nocturnal Sunshine, and is a member of dub collective She Is Danger. Maya has won a clutch of prestigious DJ accolades, including DJ Mag’s ‘Producer of the Year’ in 2011 and ‘Best House/Garage/Deep House’ track at the Miami Winter Music Conference 2012. Look out for more from Maya if you’re a fan of digital music.
Meg Myers – Make a Shadow // Teen Wolf, Season 4 Episode 2
This heavy indie track by Meg Myers plays in Lydia’s car as she and Kira talk about recent dark stuff that’s gone down. Meg’s raw guitar thumping and throaty vocals earned her recurring spots at various legendary LA clubs such as the Viper Room and the Troubadour, and some have compared her to a younger Alanis Morrissette. Meg has released two EP’s, the most recent of which came out in February 2014. Check out Make a Shadow here:
Neulore – Shadow of a Man // Beauty and the Beast, Season 2 Episode 21
This track by Neulore owes a lot in its composition to Arcade Fire, and the song title probably pertains to the scene it features in: Cat and Vincent, on the run from the law, walking in the city in terrible disguises. Neulore describe themselves as a Modern Folk outfit from Nashville. They are currently supporting Ingrid Michaelson on her summer tour of the midwest. Check out the track here!
