Up-and-Comer: Skyler Maxon

Skyler Maxon is an up-and-comer in the truest sense. The young actor has appeared in virtually nothing of consequence up until very recently. In fact, if you Google him, many of the first hits that pop up are a news story relating to a massive car accident in Los Angeles, upon which he and his twin brother Beau attempted to intervene.

Last spring, Skyler landed himself a role on one of our favorite MTV series, Teen Wolf. Skyler portrayed Corporal Rhys, one of the officer’s that figured into Kira’s mother’s WWII backstory on the episode “The Fox and the Wolf.”

After playing small roles on single episodes of CSI and 90210, Skyler has finally landed himself a prominent recurring role on Faking It. He plays Duke, the uber-hot MMA fighter who becomes a love interest for Shane (Michael J. Willet).

When the crew of Hester High attends an MMA (mixed martial arts) class, Shane is taken with Duke, an MMA fighter who’s still in the closet. Shane is just about the loudest and proudest gay guy at Hester High, so the fact that Duke wants to be on the down-low does not exactly vibe with Shane’s nothing-to-hide vibe. Duke’s hotness will probably only be able to sustain Shane’s interest for so long.

Skyler has only appeared on a couple of episodes of Faking It so far, and we hope to see more of him throughout the rest of the season. In fact, we hope to see more of him in general. Skyler has proven himself to be eye-candy of the highest caliber, and isn’t that what Faking It is all about?
