XO, Kitty star Anthony Keyvan talks friendship with Anna Cathcart and teases a new relationship for Q in season 2

Your favorites are returning to KISS with more love, drama and chaos queens. That’s right, season 2 of XO, Kitty is here! The second chapter of the hit Netflix show premieres on January 16, and before its release, we chatted again with the incredibly talented Anthony Keyvan who stars as Q to learn more about returning to Seoul and working with both returning and new cast members.

In season ` of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before spinoff, Kitty, the infamous Lara Jean’s younger sister played by Anna Cathcart, heads to boarding school in Seoul, South Korea, to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend. When things don’t go as planned, Kitty begins on a quest of finding true love all while growing up and exploring Seoul. Season 2 picks up almost two years after the dramatic cliffhanger that saw Kitty head back to America for good after being expelled. As she finds her way back to KISS, she discovers her love life was a lot more complicated than she thought.

All your favorite characters including Dae, Yuri, Min Ho, and more return, and they are joined by newcomers including Stella, Praveena and Jin.

“Everyone on our show represents a certain community, background, ethnicity that we don’t always get to see on TV.”

Young Entertainment was so glad to chat with Anthony, once again. You may recognize him from his role as Rahim in Love, Victor, and we got to interview him back then about his experience on set and the importance of telling LGBTQ+ stories. He’s also had roles in shows including Generation, Fresh Off the Boat, The Rookie, and many more!

Anthony said XO, Kitty was originally renewed for a season two right when the SAG-AFTRA writer’s strike began. They were in limbo for almost eight months, unsure of whether the show was going to come back, but he said everyone was so excited to reprise their roles.

“We went back to Korea and it felt like no time had passed.”

It had been almost two years since Anthony returned to Seoul, but he said all of the cast was a lot more comfortable as themselves and as actors in the second season.

“In Season 2 we were even more in tune with our characters, with the writing and in every department. We worked out all the kinks and I think Season 2 is so much stronger because of it.”

Anthony said filming in a foreign country was a lot different than any other project he had ever worked on, but he learned so much from the Korean cast and crew and even picked up some new vocab from them.

In season two, Anthony’s character Q develops an even deeper bond with Kitty and Anthony said he and Anna got along so well from the first moment they met.

“When we [Anna and I] came to Korea, we instantly clicked.”

The entire cast bonded and understood each other so well and were able to explore Seoul. You’ll just have to watch episode 4 especially to see how this bond comes alive on screen.

“Everyone really showed up and knew what they were supposed to do. It was a lot of fun.”
