ya-interview-exclusive-music-video-premiere-sarah-blaine-never-get-to-heaven-young-adult-mag

Not too long ago, we ran an interview with Sarah Blaine after her song “Never Get to Heaven” was featured on “Pretty Little Liars” and garnered a huge response, netting nearly 400k views on Youtube. We’re happy to announce that she’s now filmed a live action video for the song and we are exclusively premiering it on YA Magazine. Eek! It’s a tearjerking track that’s about loving someone more than life (and death). We love the video, lots of brooding shots of Sarah in powerful landscapes and some religious undertones intermingled…it’s got us, well…in heaven. We also had a chance to sit down with Sarah and chat to her about the inspiration for the video and the exclusive contest she’s running in conjunction with YA Magazine. You don’t want to miss this!

sarah-blaine-top-teen-artistYA Mag: Hi Sarah, long time no speak!  Where and when did you shoot the video?  It looks great, especially the shots of you in amongst the petrified trees and all of the stuff in the church.

Sarah Blaine: We shot the video in north San Diego county in the beginning of July. Some of the shots we were able to get were where, sadly, a massive wildfire had taken place earlier this year. It made for some pretty stark images.

YA: Who came up with the idea for the narrative of the video?

SB: The director of the video, Chase Austin, came up with the concepts and found the great locations that really lent themselves to the feel of the song. He was awesome to work with!

YA: Was this the first time you’ve ever had to flex your acting chops on screen?  Were you nervous?  Did it feel a lot different from performing live?

SB: I did a lot of acting growing up, commercials and tv shows. So I’m pretty used to the cameras. It’s definitely very different from live performances though. It has to be contained on screen – performances can be larger than life.

YA: We’re incredibly excited to be featuring the video as an exclusive on the website.  Do you have a message for our readers?

SB: I’m just excited that you all get to see it! Young Adult Mag is awesome and I’m so grateful to you guys and the fans for supporting me!

YA: Drumroll please…can you tell us about the exclusive raffle and the prize that our readers stand to win?  (We’re actually a bit jealous that we can’t enter ourselves.)

SB: YES! One lucky reader who comments on the video will be randomly chosen to have lunch with Lois Blumenthal (PLL’s head editor) and me on the Warner Bros lot in Burbank, CA. That’s where Pretty Little Liars is filmed. It’s going to be a ton of fun!

YA: Thank you so much Sarah, best of luck with the song!

Readers, make sure you that you comment if you love the song and video as we will be picking a random winner from the comments to grab an exclusive lunch with Sarah Blaine at the Warner Brothers Studio Lot in Los Angeles.  Good luck!
