THE DUFF – Teaser
Summed up as: Mae Whitman takes center stage this week with this enticing first look at THE DUFF, the Kody Keplinger YA novel-turned-movie that just might be this generation’s Mean Girls and then some.
Don’t miss: Bella Thorne of Shake It Up! and Red Band Society, as a pretty blond in high school; i.e., a very dangerous weapon.
Also don’t miss: Ouija’s Bianca A. Santos, currently appearing opposite Shane Harper in Happyland.
Worth seeing opening weekend? We will be there.

AGAINST THE SUN
Summed up as: A wartime survival tale that feels like Life of Pi without any of the majesty or metaphor.
Scariest thing in the trailer: The sharks, or maybe the starving humans with guns?
Don’t miss: Draco Malfoy, of course, otherwise known as Tom Felton, as well as Percy Jackson’s Jake Abel.
Worth seeing opening weekend? If you can handle the stress!
THE COBBLER
Summed up as: Adam Sandler departing from the usual slapstick silliness to bring us a fantastical switcheroo scenario about a shoemaker who can walk a mile in anyone’s shoes—literally.
Best thing in the trailer:The Guest’s Dan Stevens, realizing he can’t take off his shoes in a delicate situation.
Dumbest thing: The crime caper plot device summed up in the trailer’s second half.
Worth seeing opening weekend? No, but worth checking out!
PARADISE LOST
Summed up as: A much more tempting second look at this Josh Hutcherson starrer, a hybrid action-packed biopic.
Best thing in the trailer:How the plot summary manages to build unbelievable suspense in such a short amount of time.
Don’t miss: This looks like total Oscar bait for Benicio del Toro.
Worth seeing opening weekend? Yes!
PEANUTS
Summed up as: Snoopy and friends are getting event movie treatment in a new look, slightly reminiscent of South Park. The holiday movie is due next Christmas 2015. Funniest thing in the trailer: All the slapstick fun. We just hope it maintains that slightly mellower nostalgic tone too. Best line: “Good grief!” of course! Worth seeing opening weekend? Eventually! PROJECT ALMANAC
Summed up as: MTV is going major scifi with this trippy time travel series that seems like one drawn out ‘paradox’ from Back to the Future.
Best thing in the trailer: The dark undertone and the creepy midpoint.
Best line: “I’m everywhere, b—h.”
