For those who recognize the name, City on Fire is an Apple TV+ show that premiered on May 12th. If you’ve heard of this title before, that means there was a chance you’ve heard of the novel that goes by the same name. The show tells the story of NYU Student Samantha Cicciaro, who was founded shot in Central Park. With no witnesses and little evidence, it doesn’t take long for the investigation to realize something is amiss. From what was found with her connections lies the mysterious citywide fires, the downtown music scene with her friend’s band, and a curious connection with a wealthy, uptown family whose fraying under the many secrets they keep hidden. Set to release under Apple TV+, this show was also advertised to be under the care of the Executive Producers who worked on the shows Gossip Girl and The O.C.

Speaking of the origins and inspiration of the City on Fire, the show takes inspiration from the book of the same name! Written by Garth Risk Hallberg in 2015, the book was published under Jonathan Cape in the United Kingdom. In the U.S., it was published under Alfred A. Knopf. This book was considered to be a New York Times Notable Book. It was named one of the Best Books of the Year at the time by notable newspapers. These include The Washington Post, VogueLos Angeles Times, and even The Wall Street Journal. The show follows the same story as the original; the book follows the story of an investigation into a shooting that takes place in Central Park in the 1970s.

Here is some information on Alexandra, otherwise also known as Allie! An American actress, you might recognize her from her appearance in On My Block Season 4 as Mackenzie. From her experience with theatre, acting, and being in commercials, Allie has earned more than enough experience to be involved in several films and shows. Allie has made appearances in the following shows; Kirby Buckets as Janis, The L Word: Generation Q as Missy, Grey’s Anatomy as Erin and Cindy, Atypical as Zoe, Chicago P.D. as Isla Jenkins, 9-1-1 as Jordyn, American Psychos as Olivia, Hart of the Wild Bunch as Doke, and FBI: Most Wanted as Maya Addison.

We first asked Allie about the audition process and if she knew anything about the project before she applied. Allie answered that she figured it out by the time she received the audition for Sewer Girl, as she had auditioned for a different role in September and read the pilot. She loved the script and was very excited when she did the audition for Sewer Girl. Eventually, Allie figured out that it was City on Fire. Upon re-reading it and realizing that it was based on the original novel, Allie fell in love all over again.

When asked if she read the book, Allie mentioned that she had after she had booked the role. She was able to finish it before she got to New York. When asked if there were any differences between the novel and the show, Allie happily informs us about how some aspects are different. Although there are a lot of parallels between the book and the show.
