Before we can have fun with the activity, everyone knows the drill with this show, but if you haven’t, here’s what it’s about. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is a mockumentary, musical drama series inspired by the High School Musical movies. Set in the same town where the original movies were filmed, the series follows a group of theater enthusiasts who participated in the staging of the musical in their school production.
Each season showcases a musical that each student participated in while also following the journey of these teens as they navigate through friendships, love, identity, and familial relationships. The series shows fan-favorite stars such as Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett (who you will certainly recognize on our website, and from his music), Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, and more. Here’s a small, fun fact that you probably didn’t know about the show. Did you know that the series had won the GLAAD Media Award? It also won five Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards and nominated for the Children’s and Family Emmy Awards?
Speaking of the musical, let’s take a moment to talk about its original inspiration, High School Musical. In the early 2000s, Peter Barsocchini created the High School Musical franchise by releasing its first movie in 2006. The film was a huge success and eventually released a television sequel and a theatrical release following its third sequel. It even created a spin-off series starring Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel in their adventures. The franchise starred many actors and actresses you might know now. This includes Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Cordin Bleu, and Monique Coleman. If you’re eager to learn more about High School Musical, we recommend checking the films out. You won’t be disappointed by what led to the eventual High School Musical: The Musical: The Series!
There are also some tidbits about Frankie! Frankie A. Rodriguez is an actor whose prominently known for his roles in shows and films. You’ll certainly recognize him from the following: Raymond & Lane as Frankie, I’m Fine as Mick, Only Children as Teenage Mohammed, Modern Family as Eduardo, and most importantly, in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series as Carlos!
And here are some tidbits on Joe! Joe Serafini is another actor, whom you might recognize from POVz. He’s more prominent for his role as Seb in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, however.
And now, onto the game! Here’s a brief synopsis of how the game works. Both players must answer who sang the song. The question will be dependent on either the movie or the Broadway version of the film. We first, however, ask about their knowledge of Frozen. Joe excitedly mentions that he saw the movie about 30 times, and Frankie comments that he might be good at this.
At the first question, when prompted on how the song is from ‘Summer’ and is originally from the movie, both answered that the song was sung by Olaf. The next question is from the Broadway version, and the song was called ‘Monster’. Both answered that the person who sang that song was Elsa, and the answer was correct! If you want to see what other questions are left and to test your knowledge of Frozen and the Broadway version, be sure to check out the rest of the video! And be sure to check out the show’s final season on August 9th!
