This newest Hallmark movie was released on June 17th through the Hallmark Channel, and this movie has been on people’s watchlist for a while! The film tells the story of Rebecca and Adam, both portrayed by Becca Tobin and our interviewee Jake Epstein respectively, and the two are planning their Jewish wedding. However, their future and wedding become jeopardized when their beliefs and values contradict one another, and it’s up to their mothers to teach them that their main priority is, and will always be, love. The movie was filmed between March and April 2023 in Vancouver, Canada, and the cast was excited to share their journey through this movie, especially when the film is about the aftermath of falling in love, compared to films where the entirety of the story is about falling in love. It’s a nice change of pace, isn’t it?
Did you know that The Wedding Contract was released under the 2023 June Weddings lineup? Summer weddings have spread through the Hallmark channel in June, and The Wedding Contract is one of the four movies to be presented through the Hallmark channel because of this theme’s release. Wedding Season, Love’s Greek to Me, and Make Me a Match accompanied by The Wedding Contract, and this programming will be through the entirety of June! Here is some information on Jake Epstein! A Canadian actor, singer, and writer, you’ll certainly recognize him as Craig Manning from Degrassi: The Next Generation. His roles don’t stop there, as Jake has been involved in a ton of films, shows, and Broadway acts. He’s appeared as Peter Parker in the Broadway rendition of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and as Gerry Goffin in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical with the original Broadway cast. As for his acting roles, Jake is renowned for the following roles: Cam Dunleavey and Tybalt in The Zack Files, Craig Manning in the various Degrassi spin-offs, Brian Altman in Suits, Chuck Russink from Designated Survivor, Jason Ryan Reeves in Holly Hobbie, Mr. Munder from the Hardy Boys, Alphonso Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy, and Todd Harvey from Hudson & Rex.
We first asked Jake when he realized he wanted to pursue an acting career. Jake explained that he used to go on these road trips with his family as a child, and told us that they would see a Broadway show for their family vacation. During his first year, he watched the musical Big, based on the film based on Tom Hanks. He remembered that the chorus was filled with kids his age, and he remembered seeing them so talented and praised that it hit him like a brick, and he knew from there he had to be like one of those kids.
We also asked about his audition process for Degrassi, and what the process was like. Jake explained that it was a series of auditions, the first being a monologue as Craig. Upon getting the callback, he went deeper and deeper into it with more auditions with the other characters and more.
