Back in January 2017, a new show titled Riverdale was released on Netflix. A supernatural series carrying elements of horror, drama, and crime, Riverdale received a lot of positive reception before its release. Based on the characters written by Archie Comics in the Archie comic books, Riverdale is the story of how a teenager found murdered becomes the catalyst of how a group of teenagers tries to unravel the secrets of their town. The show is currently up to its 6th Season, and its 7th Season will premiere on March 29th.

Meanwhile, Firefly Lane tackles an entirely different genre against Riverdale. This drama series started in February of 2021, and the show was highly receptive before its release. Firefly Lane stars friends Tully and Kate (portrayed by Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke respectively). They are two complete opposites whose bond helps traverse many different challenges, only for it all to lead to a tragedy. With the show bearing the tagline, “Three decades, two friends, one hell of [a] story.” This show has many people excited for what will continue in Season 2. Speaking of this latest season, Season 2 has yet to be completed and will return on April 27th!

These two shows are vastly different from each other, but the drama in both shows leaves the audience wanting more. However, both shows take inspiration from two separate avenues. As mentioned before, Riverdale takes inspiration from the characters of Archie Comics, such as Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead. For those who have possibly read the New Riverdale series that Archie Comics relaunched back in 2015, the series shows the origins of each character. It Presents them in these different stories while showcasing a prominent feature in the comics: the love triangle between Archie, Betty, and Veronica. Firefly Lane, meanwhile, takes inspiration from the novel of the same name. Written by Kristin Hannah, the novel version follows Tully’s and Kate’s friendship throughout their teens to adulthood.

Here’s a refresher on Kyra! Known to be a dynamic storyteller and someone who stood out the most in a crowd, Kyra has been very comfortable entertaining her audience at a very young age. Her first role as Pippi Longstocking in the show Psych shows Kyra‘s talent and passion for acting. It eventually lead to her in other future roles such as Yarrow from Once Upon a Time, Carrie from Schmigadoon!, Jess from The J Team, Chloe Beckett from Christmas Takes Flight, and finally her recent/current roles: Britta and Lisa-Karen from Riverdale and Firefly Lane.

We start by asking how she felt about Britta’s appearance in the show, and what the audition process was like. Kyra was ecstatic that Britta was becoming a more reoccurring character in Riverdale. She stated that when she first auditioned for the role, she was only supposed to be in one or two episodes of the show. Kyra has mentioned that it has been “awesome” seeing Britta changing and growing over the last two seasons. Seeing Britta doing all of these different activities/roles in the show has been fun for Kyra. When asked what it was like to work with the Riverdale cast, Kyra tells us how “cool” it was to work with her fellow cast members.

Before her audition, Kyra does state that she was a fan of the show and the Archie comics when she was younger. She happily recounts how everyone would joke around with each other, and it creates a fun environment on set. She mentions that she mainly works with Madelaine Petsch, who portrays Cheryl Blossom on the show. Kyra also stated that the two have created a great bond and hold a ‘big sister and little sister’ dynamic with each other.
