Are you ready for a slumber party? The upcoming film The Slumber Party will be released soon, and if you’re looking for some content related to the movie, then we have some exciting news for you! We have an exclusive interview with a few stars from the show! Introducing Darby Camp as Megan, Dallas Liu as Mikey, Alex Cooper Cohen as Veronica, Emmy Liu-Wang as Paige, Valentina Herrera as Anna Maria, and Ramon Jose Rodriguez as Jake! We can’t wait to talk to everyone about their roles, their thoughts, and experiences with the film and each other, and more. Because the film is yet to be released, if you are reading this interview and are planning on watching the film when it’s released, this article will actively avoid any spoilers that might pop up in this interview. Considered to be described as the child version of The Hangover, The Slumber Party is one of the newest original movies for release under the Disney Channel name. The film follows the aftermath of a sleepover hypnotism gone wrong, as best friends Megan, Paige, and Veronica wake up with no memories of what had happened. To find the missing Anna Maria and find out why Megan is missing her left eyebrow while wearing Jake Ramirez’s signature black hoodie, the three must retrace their steps to find the birthday girl while also trying to figure out why there’s a bunch of baby ducks in the bathtub. Directed by Veronica Rodriguez and written by Eydie Faye, the film is set for release through the Disney Channel on July 27th and will be ready for streaming through Disney+ on the next day.
Did you know the film was based on the book of the same name? This young adult, contemporary fiction book follows the same adventures of Meghan, Paige, Anna-Marie, and Veronica. Anna-Marie goes missing, Meghan’s left eyebrow is gone, she’s wearing the bad boy’s signature hoodie, and there are a bunch of baby chicks in the bathtub. The synopsis also mentions hypnotism, and the book follows the girls as they figure out what happened that night while trying to find the missing Anna-Marie.
Here is some information on our stars! First up, we have Darby Camp! An actress who initially started in local commercials and ads, Darby eventually made her way to who you’ll recognize in Big Little Lies as Chloe McKenzie, as well as being cast into other roles such as Emily from Clifford the Big Red Dog, Haley from NOS4A2, Kate from The Christmas Chronicles, and Phoebe from Dreamland. Then we have Dallas Liu, who you’ll certainly recognize from the following films and shows: a younger Jin Kazama from Tekken, younger Bi Han from Mortal Kombat: Legacy, young Jimmy from Underdog Kids, Carter from Legendary Dudas, Taylor King from Players, Yoshi from Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, Ruihua from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Bruce Lee from The Who Was? Show, Pete from No Good Nick, and Shuji Ishii-Peters from PEN15. Next, we have Alex Cooper Cohen, who will be making her professional debut as Veronica in the film, and you can see her website here: https://www.alexcoopercohen.com/. Emmy Liu-Wang is a musician, actress, and singer, and is best known for her portrayal as Ivy from Raven’s Home. Next is Valentina Herrera, who you might recognize from her roles as a younger Widow from Black Widow, and as Agent Opal from Odd Squad. Lastly, we have Ramon Jose Rodriguez. You’ll certainly recognize him from his roles as Alex, Zac, and Mike and a few other roles from Love XO, including his role as Ethan from Class of 1970.
We first asked one of the stars, Darby, what one thing she does to prevent breaking her character. Darby answers that before she goes on, Darby mentions that she makes sure that she memorizes her lines and how otherwise, Darby admits that she will break character more easily.
