The newest show to premiere on Netflix is Sweet Magnolias. While fans are excited for the acting return of Jamie Lynn Spears, another name is grabbing the attention of viewers. That’s actor Logan Allen who plays Kyle Townsend. Fans may also recognize Logan from the AMC show Creepshow. YEM got to know Logan when he took over our Instagram earlier this month. Logan gave us the inside scoop on Sweet Magnolias, acting, and what it’s like to live on a farm!
Young Entertainment Mag: How did you first get into acting?
Logan Allen: It all started when a friend of ours said I would do good in the industry. I was around 8 at the time and none of our family ever was involved in the business. We didn’t really know what to do but after some discussion, we decided to give it a try. Ever since then, I’ve fallen in love with acting.
YEM: You star in Netflix’s newest show Sweet Magnolias. What was it like to be a part of the show?
Logan: Being part of the show was incredible. Being in a Netflix show was a dream of mine. It came to reality in an amazing way. I couldn’t have worked with a better cast and crew. There wasn’t a bad day on set!
YEM: Can you tell us a bit about your character?
Logan: My character is Kyle Townsend. Kyle is the most caring person. He focuses on making everybody around him happy that he maybe doesn’t focus enough time on himself. I think you guys might see a little bit of that. He is also an aspiring actor. You also get to see some of that!
YEM: What was it like working with celebrities like Jamie Lynn Spears and Joanna Garcia Swisher?
Logan: Those two were some of the most down to earth and kindest people I’ve ever met. They are so talented and it was amazing to work with them. I also got work with them a lot so it was a true honor. Everybody else was incredible as well. As I said, I couldn’t have been a part of a better cast and crew.
YEM: You’ve worked on movies and tv shows. Do you prefer one to the other? What is the difference between acting in a series and a movie?
Logan: Usually, with a film, there is the main conflict and only a few side conflicts. In a show, you have the main plot with the main issue, but there are a bunch of little things in each episode that goes on. I think I personally like working on a show because I feel like the character development has more time to occur.
YEM: What would you say is your dream role?
Logan: My dream role is another horror film or show. I’m a huge horror guy. I basically grew up with Halloween, NOES, Scream, Child’s Play, etc. I just feel like horror has some of the best cinematography, and definitely the best scores in the entire film industry. So, it would be cool to be in a classic slasher remake but any horror gig would be amazing.
YEM: Our readers were excited to hear that you live on a farm! What is that like? How many animals are on the farm?
Logan: Living on a farm is amazing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a ton of work, but it’s worth it. I love the lifestyle because you have all that land that you can do whatever you want with. As of right now, we have 5 horses, a bunch of cows, and some chickens. We used to have hogs, goats, lambs, etc, but we don’t have them at the moment.
