Many new shows premiered in 2024 that captured our attention. We binged them and laughed, cried and still cannot stop talking about some of these plot twists. Here are our top 5 new shows from this year:
1. Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Fans of the iconic Percy Jackson books and movies were treated this year with the Percy Jackson and the Olympians television series, starring Walker Scobell (Percy), Aryan Simhadri (Grover), Leah Jeffries (Annabeth), and Dior Goodjohn (Clarissa). In the series, demigod Percy Jackson leads a quest across America to prevent a war from breaking out among the Olympian gods. When we interviewed Dior Goodjohn earlier this year, she said the support from the lifelong Percy Jackson fans was so special.
2. Agatha All Along
When a new series of tragedies hit the city of Westview, the spell-bound Agatha Harkness, played by Katherin Hahn, finds herself without power when a suspicious goth teen breaks her free from a distorted spell. He begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road trials to reclaim her powers and discover the teen’s motivations. Joe Locke is the star of the show and his character’s identity becomes one of the biggest plot twists of the season.
3. Geek Girl
In Geek Girl, Harriet Manners, who has spent her whole life trying to fit in, has her world turned upside down on a school trip to London Fashion Week when a modeling agency notices her. The show is a feel good watch that will put a smile on your face as you see the relationships in the show unfold. We interviewed Liam Woodrum who plays Nick Park to learn more about his character’s special relationship with Harriet, as well as actors Zac Looker and Rochelle Harrington.
4. Maxton Hall
The German television series Maxton Hall — The World Between Us follows Ruby Bell, who witnesses an explosive secret at Maxton Hall private school. She gets put on the radar of millionaire heir James Beaufort who is determined to silence her, but their clash ignites an unexpected spark between them. We chatted with the two leads, Damian Hardung and Harriet Herbig-Matten, to learn how they created their chemistry on set and it was one of our favorite and most popular interviews of the year.
5. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder
Based on the YA book series of the same name by Holly Jackson, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder follows Pip Fitz-Amobi as she investigates the murder of high school student Andi Bell. Pip believes Sal Singh, Andie’s boyfriend, was innocent of the crime he was accused of and therefore looks into the case for her senior year project, determined to get to the bottom of the mystery. In a time where book adaptations are as popular as ever, this series combines teen drama with twisty, turny paths of crime. We interviewed Henry Ashton who played Max Hastings to learn about playing a villain and his firsts on set.
