If you haven’t noticed already, Young Entertainment is doing their very own March Madness, but with a twist. We have compiled a list of this year’s best couples from film and television and put them head-to-head to see who is this year’s best couple. Check out the graphic to see which couples are included in this year’s tournament.
So what is March Madness? When did it begin? And why is it such a big deal? The tournament was created in 1939 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. Harold Olsen, the coach of Ohio State, came up with the idea and it has now become one of the biggest annual sporting events in the United States. The tournament consists of 68 teams: 32 are conference champions and 36 are chosen by the NCAA selection committee. These 36 teams that are chosen by the committee are announced on live television in an event titled “Selection Sunday.”. If a team didn’t win their conference championship and is only eligible through “Selection Sunday”, their dreams are either made or broken on this day. The 68 teams are then divided into a bracket in a single-elimination tournament. This is where the fun begins.
It is a March Madness tradition for fans to create their own bracket and predict what teams will move forward in the competition. This can be done for Young Entertainments Best Couple bracket as well! After the “first four’ round, the number of tournament teams becomes smaller and smaller. The “Sweet Sixteen” and “Elite Eight” rounds enter the next week and weekend, and then for the last weekend of the tournament – the “Final Four” round. Finally, the National Championship game ensues, and the best college basketball team in the country is victorious.
As far as couples go, we have the best of the best. Victor and Benji from Love, Victor who have been through it all from coming out as an openly gay couple to dealing with drug addiction, but it seems the two always find their way back to another. Big Red and Ashlyn from HSMTMTS who are basically the cutest couple on the planet, as well as Ricky and Nini who have an undeniable connection. Cheryl and Toni from Riverdale who initiallity had distaste for one another, but it took a complete 180 when they became friends, and many many more. Which couple do you feel most strongly about?
