Young Sheldon star Raegan Revord is a big bang!

Young Sheldon is one of TV’s biggest comedies. It’s the spinoff prequel series of the popular comedy The Big Bang Theory. Young Sheldon follows the early years of young genius Sheldon Cooper. Young Sheldon Cooper lives in the South with his family including his parents, grandma, his uncaring older brother and his sneaky twin sister Missy. Missy is played by Raegan Revord and she is gaining the attention of audiences all over the world with her role as Missy. YEM spoke with Raegan about starring in a hit show and what’s ahead for Young Sheldon’s third season!

Young Entertainment Mag: How did you first get started in acting?

Raegan Revord: I started acting around 6 years old. A friend of ours introduced us to her friend that owned an agency. She asked if she could rep me and my mom and dad were ok with it. I started out doing modeling and commercials. Once I saw myself on tv I asked my parents how I could be on tv shows and movies. That’s when my parents knew how serious it was to me. After that they got me a manager and you know what they say, the rest is history. Haha

YEM: You’re one of the stars on Young Sheldon, which is a spinoff of The Big Bang Theory. Did you watch The Big Bang Theory before joining the show?
Raegan: I actually had never heard of it before I auditioned for Young Sheldon. Once I was further along in the audition process they sent over clips of Ms Laurie Metcalf from the Big Bang so I could hear the accent. Today I’ve probably watched a hand full of the Big Bang shows… I watched the episode where they introduced Georgies character, the wedding episode, and of course the series finale. I also we to a few live shows.

YEM: You play Missy, Sheldon’s twin sister. Do you have any siblings in real life?
Raegan: I’m the only child, but I have four fur siblings. Haha Joking aside, Iain and Montana feel like my real brothers. We are together every day for about 9 months out of the year. At that point you start acting like real siblings.
YEM: Missy is much more mischievous than Sheldon. Do you relate to Missy at all?
Raegan: I can be pretty mischievous. Haha I do relate to her a lot actually. We are both very independent and strong-willed. Although we both speak our mind, I’m more respectful in the way I deliver it. If I talked to people the way missy does I’d be in trouble! We are also both very social and makes friends easily. My mom always says I’ve “never met a stranger”.
YEM: The Coopers are a very close family. How do you and the cast get along? How did you build a close relationship with them when you first met?
Raegan: We are super close and it does feel like a second family. Again, I think when you spend sooooo much time together it just naturally happens. When we started I think we all knew how special this show was and we just knew we’d hit the jackpot so from that we had a special bond.

YEM: The newest season of Young Sheldon just began. Can you give fans a sneak peak of what to expect from the new season?
Raegan: I don’t want to give away any storylines, but I can say we got the writers over from Big Bang and they’ve been writing some great stories!
YEM: What will Missy be up to this season?
Raegan: Missy has a great story arc this season. We will see her playing baseball and you will see a different, more emotional side of Missy. The writers are started to peel the the layers back on her and so she starts to become more real.

YEM: Young Sheldon is one of the most popular shows on television. So do you get recognized by fans a lot?
Raegan: I do get recognized, but I don’t mind it. It’s fun to meet the people that watch the show. They are always so nice and excited. Once a four year old came up to me and said that I inspired him to be an actor and I almost cried!
YEM: Do you have a favorite episode of Young Sheldon that you’ve shot?
Raegan: My favorite episode is one that hasn’t aired yet so I can’t say too much. But I got to do my own stunt and it was so cool!!!
YEM: Finally, is there anything you would like to see Missy go through as the show goes on?
Raegan: We just saw her first heartbreak which let us see a different side to missy. The scenes with a lot of heart tend to be my favorite to shoot. If the show goes on we will eventually see missy as a teenager and that will be a very interesting time. Haha!! Can you imagine her as a teenager??? Haha!!
