The Ring
Intriguing and creepy, the Ring is a movie about a group of teenagers who discover a cursed videotape. If anyone watches it, they will die seven days after viewing it. The tape has an urban legend attached to it, and the group of friends become obsessed with finding out more about it. They watch the tape, and sure enough, they start dying one by one. The movie is full of mystery and is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. There’s no doubt that this movie makes our list as one of the best scary movies for teens.
The Sixth Sense
Haley Joel Osment stars as a young boy named Cole who begins seeing ghosts in The Sixth Sense. He is terrified and doesn’t know how to make them go away. He confides in his therapist, Dr. Malcolm Crowe (played by Bruce Willis), who tries to help him. As Cole’s visions become more frequent, he starts to realize that they might be trying to tell him something. The movie is full of suspense and will leave you guessing until the end. It’s without a doubt one of the greatest scary movies for teenagers.
The Last Exorcism
Exorcism is alive and well in the present age, just ask Cotton Marcus played by Patrick Fabian).
Young Nell, played by Ashley Bell, is possessed by a demon in The Last Exorcism. Her father, Cotton Marcus, is an exorcist who decides to perform an exorcism on her in order to save her soul. However, the demon is too strong and Cotton is not able to get rid of it. This movie is smart and well crafted but you might want to keep the lights on to watch this intense, dramatic thriller.
The Possession
What could be in the box? The 2012 horror film The Possession is about a young girl named Emily (Kyra Sedgwick) who becomes strangely preoccupied with an antique wooden box acquired from a yard sale that is said to be haunted. She opens the box and the spirit that is inside starts to possess her. This movie provides lots of good scares, Cue the creaks! The slamming doors! The spooks! it is sure to send chills down your spine.
Insidious
Insidious is a gripping movie about a family that moves into a new house and begins to experience supernatural phenomena.They soon realize that their comatose son has become possessed by a demon and they must find a way to save him before it’s too late. It’s a real nail-biter from start to finish, It’s undoubtedly a good scary movie for teens to watch and its purpose in short is to go BOO!
Lights Out
How comfortable are you in the dark? Lights Out is a movie about a young woman named Rebecca (played by Teresa Palmer) who starts seeing strange things happening in her home at night. She soon realizes that there is an entity that only comes out when the lights are off. This movie is full of suspense and is brilliantly scary. It’s definitely a top choice for our list of good scary movies for teens to watch on Halloween but you just might want to keep the lights on!
Mama
This is a movie about two young girls who are left alone in the woods after their mother dies. They are found five years later, and it is soon discovered that they have been living with a creature called Mama. The girls are taken in by their uncle, but the creature wants them back and will stop at nothing to get them . “Mama” is a horror film with lots of jumps and scares. You will never know what’s going to happen next, which makes for a thrilling ride from beginning to end.
The Women in Black
The Women in Black is a movie about a young woman named Eve (played by Daniel Radcliffe) who starts working as a secretary at a law firm. She soon discovers that the firm is connected to a series of mysterious deaths, and she is determined to find out more. This movie has at least three or four jump-in-your-seat stingers and will keep you guessing until the very end. It’s definitely a good scary movies for teens.
Disturbia
Disturbia, the name alone is disturbing! This movie follows a high school student who becomes sure that his next-door neighbor is a serial killer. The teen, who already has trouble dealing with the death of his father, gets into more hot water after he fights with one of his teachers and is put under house arrest. While being stuck at home, he starts spying on his strange neighbor because he thinks the man might be wanted by the police for committing psychopathic murders. Disturbia is exciting and at times breathtaking but beware, it might make you question who your neighbors really are! Teens will for sure want to add this movie to their watchlist of good scary movies to watch on or around Halloween.
The House at the end of the Street
The House at the End of the Street is a movie about a young woman named Elissa (played by Jennifer Lawrence) who moves to a new town with her mother. They soon discover that their new home is next door to a house where a murder took place. Elissa becomes friends with the only survivor of the massacre, and she soon realizes that he may not be telling her the whole story. The movie is full of thrills and will keep you guessing until the very end. This movie checks all the boxes and should be added to your good scary movie for teens watchlist.
