Freeform hosts Cruel Summer screening before tonight’s premiere!

Freeform went all out to get fans ready for the premiere of its new show Cruel Summer. Ever since the pandemic hit premieres have been happening in all sorts of unusual ways. This is in order to keep everyone safe. But the Cruel Summer premiere was exceptionally cool. The show had a vertical screening premiere event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday, April 15. And we’ve got the photos here!

The screening took socially distanced premieres to a whole new level, and was the first of its kind. Each guest was given a room at a hotel with a prime view of the screening from their balconies. Freeform booked more than eighty rooms at the Beverly Hilton Hotel  in order for those invited to watch Cruel Summer. The show was played on a roof with a 70ft wide screen that was installed.

The synopsis of the show reads “Cruel Summer is a psychological thriller that follows two young women; Kate Wallis, the popular girl with a charmed life who one day goes missing. And Jeanette Turner, the nerdy wannabe who is accused of being connected to Kate’s disappearance. All signs point to Jeanette’s guilt, but is Kate really who she seems to be? Set over three summers and told through shifting points of view, the series challenges perception and follows how one girl can go from being a sweet outlier to the most despised person in America.”

The show stars Olivia Holt, Chiara Aurelia, Michael Landes, Harley Quinn Smith, Allius Barnes, Blake Lee, Brooklyn Sudano, Sarah Drew and Andrea Anders. It is executive produced by Jessica Biel.

The premiere for the show looks like it went all out – we wish we were there! And we can not wait until we are finally able to watch Cruel Summer.

Make sure to watch Cruel Summer when it comes out on Freeform with a two-hour event on tonight at 9:00 p.m. EDT/PDT.
