Arrow S02E16 “Suicide Squad”

Deadshot has eyes on the nerve gas.

Oliver goes to see his Russian friend Alexi, trying to track down Slade.  He’s really mad that Slade is threatening his family and vows to kill Slade himself.  Meanwhile, Diggle is playing vigilante outside Felicity’s house but she tells him that if Slade wants to kill her, he will.  He’s on his way home from there when he gets a call to go to an unidentified hotel room.  When he gets there it’s just a bootie call from his ex-wife Lyla, who’s back from an army deployment.  No biggie.  However Amanda Waller interrupts their hotel session for another ARGUS mission and Diggle is asked to come along.  She briefs them at base about a nerve agent which is extremely dangerous.  A vial of it has been stolen and has been tracked to Golem Qadir, a Markovian terrorist who is about to wreak some serious havoc with it.  Diggle has to infiltrate Qadir’s team with a specially put together task force – or as Diggle puts it ‘suicide squad’.  It doesn’t matter if they come back alive.    Meanwhile, Arrow goes to trace a robbery perpetrator but it’s been set up by Slade, who leaves a nice message to let Arrow know he’s toying with him.  Sara tries to talk to Oliver to calm him down, but instead he breaks up with her because he thinks that Slade will use her to get to him.

Flashback to Diggle’s time in the army; it turns out that he saved Qadir’s life during a gun fight.  In the present, Diggle engineers a ‘chance’ meeting with Qadir, who tells Dig that he is a changed man.   Diggle gets invited to a party at Qadir’s house, and he takes Lyla.  Deadshot (now a member of the suicide squad) accompanies them to try to hunt find the vial of nerve gas.  Laurel confronts Ollie about ditching Sara and tries to talk some sense into him.  Ollie finds that Slade has killed Alexi, and he finally goes to Sara and breaks down.  Sara tells him she’s not that easy to kill, and having seen her on that chin up machine, I believe her.

Deadshot finds where the nerve gas is hidden, but bad news … Qadir has started reproducing it and there is loads of it!  Putting it in his pocket and getting out of there is not an option. Amanda calls in a drone strike which means everyone at the party will be dead in 10 minutes.    What are Diggle and Lyla going to do?  Diggle decides to make an impromptu speech … he announces to the party that Qadir is a terrorist.  Way to clear a dance floor.  Everyone runs and Qadir is killed as he tries to kill Lyla.  The explosion goes ahead anyway, although it attracts unwanted attention, and Amanda is not pleased with Dig.  This has thrown his relationship with Lyla into clarity however, he knows wants to be with her.  Oliver goes to see Amanda to tell her that Slade is still alive and he needs her help to find him.  She tells him about a new mercenary she knows of called Deathstroke.  Is Ollie going to have to join forces with Amanda to defeat this new foe?  Who should we be more afraid of, Deathstroke or Amanda?  Tune in next week to find out!
