Austin Mahone and Hunter Hayes: Heartthrobs of 2014

The young-heartthrob market is about to be cornered by two names that are sure to be all over the radio the rest of this year.  Two entirely different genres have two entirely different musicians taking over the young adult charts. With Hunter Hayes rocking out his Country tunes, Austin Mahone is on the opposite side of the spectrum creating his unique pop hits. Together, they make up a whole new ball game of YA sound.

Hunter Hayes imageAlthough Hunter Hayes is only 22, he has the stage presence of someone much older than him. He’s the real deal –a country music artist born and raised in Breaux Bridge, Louisana. He’s not only a vocalist, but also a multi-instrumentalist. While he didn’t win at this weekend’s Grammy awards, Hayes used the opportunity to debut an amazingly beautiful new song, “Invisible.” He opened with singing slowly at the piano and then eventually got up and commanded the stage. The song was super emotional and uses lyrics like “I wanna make you feel wanted / And I wanna call you mine / Wanna hold your hand forever / And never let you forget it” to tug at heartstrings.

Hayes has openly spoken about his struggles to fit in growing up. In an interview with USA Today, he mentioned his own battles to be accepted and how the Grammy’s heavily focused on that theme by including performances of Macklemore’s “Same Love and Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow.” Hayes said “There were a lot of messages about fitting in with music and how purposeful music can be — this sense of having a place where you always fit in and music being that place.” “Invisible” tied in beautifully to the previously mentioned performances. Country and pop fans alike are sure to love this romantic tune and it’s going to be prominently featured on Hayes’s upcoming tour.

Austin MahoneOn a more poppy end of the spectrum, Austin Mahone is about to have a huge single. “Mmm Yeah” with Pitbull is available for pre-order, currently. Given that Mahone has a huge fanbase and Pitbull has the number one song right now with Ke$ha, this is sure to be a fan favorite. For only being 17, Austin has accomplished an incredible amount so far and shows no signs of slowing down. Kylie Jenner’s a fan, she recently tweeted: “Everyone check out my friend @AustinMahone ‘s new song, can’t stop listening to it.” Jason Derulo also took to twitter to support Austin saying: “My brother from another mother @AustinMahone single is out now!!!! Stop what you’re doing and cop that!!” The song is really flirty, fun and catchy. While Mahone’s debut album has yet to come out, this type of hype is going to help it shoot to the top of the charts. This single is the follow up to “Banga Banga” which came out last fall. Make sure to check back regularly as more details become available about the album closer to the release date.
