Matty and Jenna
This was the original dream romance. Jenna was always a good person when she was with Matty. Smart, compassionate, caring … and, of course, a little awkward. Matty definitely truly cared for her, after a rocky start he ended up getting a tattoo in the most recent season that said ‘Jenna 4eva’. He’s more than a typical jock, and we thought they were good together, but obviously Jenna didn’t as she broke up with him for Colin.
Colin and Jenna
When Jenna broke up with Matty for Colin, she became kind of a bitch. The relationship started with her cheating on Matty, which is never a great beginning. Then, she fell out with her friends Tamara and Ming, which was unfortunate because she became aware too late that Colin is kind of a creep when he tried to get her to have a threesome with his ex, and got her to steal weed for him. We know who we think is better for Jenna out of Colin and Matty but, the heart wants what it wants.
Jake and Tamara
These two got together in the midst of Jake being horribly jealous that Jenna was seeing Matty. Nevertheless, they are right now going strong, in love and exploring sex together. Jake is popular, cute and smart guy – the whole package. If Jenna didn’t know what she was missing out on then good on Tamara for picking up the slack. We like them as a couple; Tamara is just as outgoing as Jake and can give him a run for his money in the chattiness department! She’s also a kind person, as has been evidenced in her friendship with Jenna.
Ming and Fred
Ming’s a quirky chick (anybody who watches Awkward knows a thing or two about her daring outfits) and a pack leader. She’s been another good friend to Jenna, although this hasn’t always been reciprocated. Ming will also fight for her man, as evidenced by the fact that she put Becca down when Becca messed with her after she started dating Fred. We don’t know as much about Fred as the other guys as this relationship doesn’t get as much screen time, but he did leave Palos Hill High School because he was scared for Ming’s safety when things got nasty with Becca, so we’d say he’s pretty loyal. As long as he keeps it up, we’re happy.
Kevin and Lacey
Jenna’s parents have had their ups and downs, not least because Lacey is a little self centered. They had Jenna young and we guess it’s difficult to keep the spice going, which could explain her indiscretion with ex boyfriend Ben. This almost led to her and Kevin divorcing, but they have hung on so far, and we hope they continue to do so because Kevin is a good guy, even if sometimes he seems a little ill prepared for fatherhood.
