Awkward Mid Season Recap

Say it with me now, SUMMER FINALE! What better way to celebrate another awesome season than with a party complete with a bounce house? Jenna’s infatuation with flirty new boy Collin finally came to a head during “Redefining Jenna.” Matty or Collin? Whom of the double consonants would win our Jenna’s heart? Also, the murderer (!) of Ricky Schwartz was finally revealed. Keep on reading (SPOILER ALERTS) to find out whodunit and that it wasn’t Sadie (shockingly).

At first, Jenna tried to keep Collin’s smooth moves at bay. She passed on his note in class before reaming him out only to realize that he wasn’t actually making an aggressive pass at her (at that moment).  He was trying to invite her to a photography exhibit. Classic Jenna. Luckily, Matty made his way onto the scene to cut the tension with a kiss.

Meanwhile, Tamara’s getting really close to the Julies and gets roped into helping them throw their After-Black-Friday slash After-Met-Ball Party. Can you say A list? Sadie is NOT happy about this, clearly. Matty and Jenna try to accomplish the most difficult of social tasks – two parties in one night. First Collin’s then Tamara’s. Jenna borrows a dress from her mom, and it’s maje. As expected, the party planning turned out to be a horror for Tamara, but MORE of a horror for Jake who gets relegated to her gopher and fails miserably at his main task of KEEPING ENOUGH ICE ON HAND. He bounces, finally but Ming steps in to save the day. She even manages to wrangle a bounce house.

Back to Jenna and Matty – their schedule gets crazed since they go on an (ultimately) useless ice run. It causes a fight that turns into a referendum on their relationship, which brings us FULL CIRCLE, and into the meatiest of discussions: who embarrasses whom. Matty brought up his parents, and the fact that Jenna never once checked in on that which is pretty valid, and Matty brings up the whole “Jenna trying to kill herself thing,” AGAIN. They make a tentative piece and Jenna ducks inside Collin’s party late and alone due to the tiff. Once inside, Jenna feels totally at ease in Collin’s artistic circle. Collin irresistibly comes clean about the fact that he does, in fact, have the hots for Jenna and the two head off together for Tamara’s to-do.

Which brings us to the backyard bash. All seems to be going well until Sadie and Tamara find Lissa at the bottom of one too many red cups of booze. They drag her into the house to find out why with all the binge drinking and Lissa reveals….She killed Ricky! Kind of. She thinks that she did him in with residual peanuts from an earlier Thai food consumption which triggered his deadly peanut allergy. Sadie comforts her and tells her that that’s not possible and sends Lissa on her way. After Lissa leaves, Sadie confirms to Tamara that this probably DID kill Ricky but she was being (gasp) KIND! Miracles do happen.

Meanwhile, Matty can’t get ahold of Jenna. He shows up at the party. Still no Jenna. She’s chatting with Collin in the car. Chatting which leads to… a steamy MO session that Matty just barely misses seeing. Jenna’s deeply conflicted but at 16 sometimes it’s okay to be selfish. In the end, we’ll have to wait until episodes return at the ned of summer to figure out which boy Jenna goes for, if Sadie will finally find love, and if Ming will continue on her golden streak.
