Dont Look Back Jennifer Armentrout

Original author: Jennifer Armentrout

Don't Look BackSYNOPSIS:

Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all-popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it’s one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took “mean girl” to a whole new level, and it’s clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She’s getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she’s falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn’t just buried deep inside of Sam’s memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

WHY SHOULD YOU CHECK IT OUT?

Part of the attraction for this book is the idea of a “do-over” in life.  Sam has treated like crap some pretty important people in her life, and now she has the chance to make up for it.  Granted, meanwhile she’s dealing with haunting visions of her missing BFF—and questioning if that means “friend” or “frenemy”.

At first, the cover looks kind of sweet.  Then you look again and realize that the doll is in a different position in the mirror, making everything seem creepy and unsettling.  It’s already giving us nightmares!

Here at YA Mag, we absolutely love all things Jennifer Armentrout—so it’s a no-brainer to have this one on the To Read list!  Jennifer has written such swoon-inducing YA romances as the LUX series, the COVENANT series, and the angels vs. gargoyles WHITE HOT KISS.

EARLY REVIEWS SAY…

This engrossing thriller packs a heady atmospheric punch with plenty of theatrical scares…  Teen readers will appreciate Samantha’s earnest attempts to redeem herself in the eyes of her brother and childhood friends, even as she is horrified to learn that she’s alienated them for years with her petty, cruel behavior. (Kirkus Review)

Infused with strong characters [and] Armentrout’s signature wit and romantic tension. (YA Books Central)
