ABC is beefing up their comedy bloc with a bet on James Caan. A brand new series called Back In The Game follows a former All-Star softball player whose promising career came crashing down after she had a son, lost her college scholarship, and dumped her loser husband; and her estranged father, a once-promising athlete whose glory days were not as glorious because his career was cut short and has become a beer-guzzling, self-opinionated couch potato. When her son decides to play Little League baseball (despite having no knowledge of the sport whatsoever) and gets rejected along with other misfit hopefuls, she, with the help of a wealthy friend, is thrust back into the sporting world by coaching a new team consisting of the rejects. Created by experienced brother-writer team Mark and Robb Cullen (Cop Out), with plenty of wild tales to tell themselves, there’s no shortage of whip-smart wisecracks and amazing anecdotes. Episodes include Halloween festivities, awkward school encounters and many more. Tune into it Wednesday nights on ABC. Check local listings for times.
