This is Me…Now: A Love Story is an epic drama and kind of true story from Jennifer Lopez’s heart and mind. The film coincides with Jennifer’s new album of the same name and tells the story of her journey to love through her own eyes. It’s extra—with a star-studded cast, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Sofia Vergara, Post Malone, Keke Palmer, Kim Petras—and we love that about it. We had the honor of chatting with actor Brandon Delsid, who plays Jennifer’s gay best friend in the film. He puts a genuine spin on what it takes to be true to one self and a real BFF.
This Is Me… Now, is a 65-minute “narrative-driven cinematic odyssey, steeped in mythological storytelling and personal healing”. It will of course, feature music from the new album, which was inspired by Jennifer’s rekindled and very true-to-life romance with Ben Affleck.
Brandon plays a modern genderfluid bestie in the film. He loved playing this character because he had creative license and a say in his costumes, makeup, and how to embody his true self in many ways. Besides being on screen with JLO, he got to own his character and that was the ultimate!
“My character gets to wear makeup and gets to do fabulous fashions and over-the-top looks. And it is just really normalized in the story and I think that was so exciting to get to do. I think it’s going to be really neat for people to see that self expression.”
Consider This:
- Put your own personal spin on acting and don’t forget to be yourself. This is the best way to get people to connect with you.
Brandon said This Is Me…Now: A Love Story is for anyone who enjoys musicals but also anyone who is looking to be inspired and tap into their creative side as it is a kind of film that has never been done before. He called it “a modern musical redefined.”
“[Jennifer] was so open to letting us experiment and kind of play with the material, and she was just a really strong and fearless captain.”
While this was Brandon’s first major film, he has had a number of other roles appearing in NBC’s New Amsterdam and Amazon Prime’s The Date Whisperer. Prior to the pandemic, he played Raj in the off-Broadway production of The Big Bang Theory Musical.
