Dive into the world of Harry Potter with YEM

If you’ve been keeping up with our page, you’re probably excited as we are that Harry Potter is taking over! YEM is diving head first into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. And if you stay tuned to our page, you might even see a few familiar faces from Hogwarts itself…

Everyone is familiar with the story of the boy who lived. But the Harry Potter universe has expanded so much in the last few years. First, The Fantastic Beasts series brought movie audiences back to Hogwarts. And now, the “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” play gives Broadway audiences an epilogue on these classic characters.

Earlier this year, YEM sat down with Fantastic Beast star Joshua Shea who played Young Newt. He talked with us about being a part of the iconic series and what it’s like to play a student at Hogwarts.

Check out our interview with Joshua below, and stay tuned to YEM’s site and social channels this week for even more Potter!

Young Entertainment Mag: Before you were cast in the film, were you a fan of Harry Potter or JK Rowling?

Joshua Shea: I grew up reading the Harry Potter books and watching the movies. I was never a huge fan of reading but found myself encompassed by JK Rowlings writing. And I could not get my head out of the books.

YEM: Did you get any instructions on how to cast spells?

Joshua: I was given some coaching by an amazing movement coach called Alex who gave me a hand with some wand movements to cast spells and working with the CGI. This was an incredible experience and one of the many highlights of working on the movie.
