Amazon is about to premiere its newest thriller and viewers are sure to become obsessed. We are days away from the premiere of Panic, a series based on the book of the same name. There are ten episodes in the season, but with the drama, action, and suspense, it’ll only take one to get you hooked.
The show takes place in a small town in Texas, where nothing new or exciting seems to happen. For the teenagers who grew up there, there’s really no way to get out of this boring town. That is, except for winning Panic…
Panic is a series of challenges, a game… and a dangerous one at that. Every summer the graduating seniors have the chance to compete in Panic. The winner gets a huge amount of money, which ifs often the only lifeline they have to get out of their town.
This year, the pot of money is larger than ever and the game has become even more dangerous. The players will come face to face with their deepest, darkest fears and be forced to decide how much they are willing to risk in order to win.
There’s definitely something sketchy about the characters in this town. Lots of them have something to hide. But then there’s our main character Heather, who now has nothing to lose. Heather is strategic, and she’s been working on her plan to move on with her life for years. She’s been saving money to go to school and become a writer. And despite what her friends try to convince her, she is dead set against competing in Panic. She’s heard the same stories as everyone else. She knows how far the games can go and how bad it can get.
Heather works hard and it looks like her dream is in reach… that is until she loses her job and her money disappears. There goes her education, her plans, and her dream. It looks like her fate is sealed, and she has no choice but to stay in her hometown forever with her irresponsible alcoholic mother. She’s played by the rules all her life. But now things have changed, and Heather never saw it coming. It’s time for her to risk everything for a chance of a better future, even if it means risking her life to do it.
The premise is exciting as it is, but the cast of Panic takes the show to the next level. Olivia Welch plays Heather with Jessica Sula and Camron Jones playing her best friends Natalie and Bishop, respectively. See our exclusive interview with Olivia and Jessica! Plus, the show also stars Jordan Elsass as Tyler. Check out our interview with him here!
But the show also stars a set of Broadway favorites. Any Dear Evan Hansen fans out there? Tony winner Rachel Bay Jones plays the main character’s mom, in a role we’ve never seen her in before. And Mike Faist, who we know as Connor in Dear Evan Hansen, plays the character Dodge. Dodge is the new guy in town – no one quite knows his deal, but he definitely has an edge. He’ll do anything to get out of this deadbeat town, so he’s determined to win Panic at any costs necessary.
