Although the title might suggest otherwise, “The End of Twerk” managed to be touching and important in advancing character storylines while artfully addressing the Twerking craze. That’s probably the only time you’ll read the words “Artfully” and “Twerk” in the same sentence. Ever. Tina videotapes Blaine cleaning and twerking as he works. She shows the tape to the entire class. Ever the optimist, Mr. S tells Blaine to embrace twerking as a pure form of expression. He even fights the school board for Twerking as representative of free speech. Poor guy. Sue tries to illuminate him to the evils of twerking but he won’t listen and insists it’s the way to get the nationals judges to notice the team. The school board signs off on it, but it’s not the last time we debate it in the episode. Jake’s cheating comes out this episode, and an emotional rendition of Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball” follows. Go Marley. Unique has started hiding out in the bathroom to avoid getting picked on, but can’t escape it forever. In response, she sings “If I Were A Boy” and it’s amazing. Mercedes wants to fight Unique’s battles for her, but she knows that will just make it worse. Sue offers to help Unique by giving her a key to the single stall teacher’s bathroom but only if Schue drops the twerking crusade, and he does. We see Rachel on a reinvention kick, getting tattoos and chugging limoncello with Kurt. Sadness. Next week Sam and Blaine head over to New York. Tune in to see what kind of trouble they get into in the big city.
