It’s the anniversary of the release of the 2005 update of ‘House of Wax’. You may like the cast more than the slasher story. In ‘House of Wax’, a group of college students wind up at a mysterious wax museum during a road trip and try to avoid being captured and becoming its next exhibit.
Chad Michael Murray
Chad Michael Murray played Nick, a cynical Holden Caulfield-type loner. It was nice that like Holden, he showed his brotherly instincts to protect his sister, played by Elisha Cuthbert. Murray’s main fame was ‘One Tree Hill’. Some of his recent roles included Jack Thompson on ABC’s short-lived ‘Agent Carter’ and recurring roles on Fox’s ‘Star’ and The CW’s ‘Riverdale’
Elisha Cuthbert
Elisha Cuthbert played Nick’s twin sister, Carly, who was concerned about her twin’s reckless past. It was crazy how she went from obsessing over where to move to having blood on her hands. But, she was briefly funny when she turned the camera on Jon Abrahams’ character, Dalton.
After her childhood role in ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark?’ and becoming legal, Cuthbert had a nine-year stint playing Kiefer Sutherland’s daughter on the original ‘24’. She was also in the teen rom com ‘The Girl Next Door’. A couple of her latest projects were when she played a guest host on ‘Canada’s Drag Race’ and ‘Jann’, both in 2020.
Robert Ri’chard
Robert Ri’chard played Paris Hilton’s boyfriend, Blake. The way Ri’Chard’s character was focused on sex with his girlfriend was quite a humorous and mature transition from when he voiced a middle schooler in the 1999 Martin Luther King, Jr movie ‘Our Friend, Martin’. Before that gig, Ri’Chard was Skeeter’s cousin in the Nick sitcom ‘Cousin Skeeter’, and afterwards, he recurred as Mason on ‘Veronica Mars’. He played Nicole Ari Parker’s brother in a guest role in the last season of ‘Empire’.
Paris Hilton
Going back to Hilton, she was known for hogging the spotlight with her fashion modeling and reality shows. Even though she advised against getting involved in the wax museum mystery, she showed genuine concern when her character of Paige went to look for Carly and tried to attack their perpetrator, proving she had more to offer than her body.
In September 2020, Hilton produced and starred in a YouTube Original documentary called ‘This Is Paris’, which details the dark truth of her upbringing.
Jared Padalecki
As for Jared Padalecki as Carly’s boyfriend Wade, it was funny how he was a jerk at the wrong times. Padalecki’s newest role is Cordell Walker in the rebooted ‘Walker’. Between those two, Padalecki was on ‘Gilmore Girls’ and ‘Supernatural’.
Jon Abrahams
Last but not least, Jon Abrahams. His character Wade worked like Project X trying to videotape the group’s camping trip. First, he was troublemaker Denny Byrnes in ‘Meet the Parents’. Next, he directed and starred in ‘Clover’ last year.
