About the Album: People are keeping tight lips about JB’s new album. We do know that it will be released sometime around Christmas and that until then JB is releasing one track off the album each Monday in a series appropriately entitled #MusicMondays. Get ready for a double dose of Bieber with the release of this album, rumored but unconfirmed to be entitled Journals, and his new concert film Believe. Bieber’s longtime manager Scooter Braun had the following to say about the new material: Justin had this complete body of work that was very different from the stuff he had done in the past — very R&B-driven, personal songs, not necessarily songs that he was thinking of as radio records. That’s why he called them ‘journals.’ They’re very, very personal to what he’s been feeling over the last six months, going through a tough time. If you listen to the lyrics in these songs — “Heartbreaker,” “All That Matters” — he’s pouring his heart out. When I looked at that, I looked at it as, “He didn’t write one journal…He wrote them in different days, [with] different emotions at different points, and I wanted people to experience what he was feeling, week to week… As each week comes, people will have a different type of song, and understand the different experience he’s going through week to week.” The album has been further teased out in recent weeks as Justin has been posting Instagram photos of sessions with Pharrell Williams, Future, Tyler The Creator. It is also rumored that Wiz Khalifa, and R.Kelly are on the album, but again, this is hearsay. Regardless, fans are sure to be pleased.
Single Spotlight: All That Matters is a soulful ballad with R&B and jazzy undertones that’s well suited to JB’s vocal strengths and will surely have legions of girls swooning. |
