We can never get enough of loveable goofball, Trent, in Never Have I Ever, so we decided to dedicate this week’s New Music Friday to him! Trent is definitely a party kind of guy, so that’s why we know he’d love Blinding Lights by The Weeknd. It’s upbeat, synth pop that Trent could definitely dance to at one of Devi’s house parties. A big song during Never Have I Ever was Heat Waves by Glass Animals, which we also know Trent would like; Paxton most likely showed him this song and got him hooked.
Trent would also be on TikTok, so he’d definitely know some viral songs on there, especially the rap ones. We think that “Betty (Get Money)” by Yung Gravy and “First Class” by Jack Harlow would have definitely been some fun, upbeat ones that he’d love. We can also see Trent being a fan of Post Malone, and we can for sure imagine “92 Explorer” and “One Right Now” blasting through his headphones. Also, we could see Trent’s silliness and energy making him a Megan Thee Stallion fan, so we added “Sweetest Pie,” by her and Dua Lipa.
Because of Trent’s openness to different music, we think he would also love some more experimental music, so Spanish-English rap song “Tamagotchi” by Omar Apollo and transitional R&B song “GONE, GONE/ THANK YOU” by Tyler, the Creator would appeal to him. Trent is also well-versed in the current greats in the rap and R&B genres, so we could definitely see him being a fan of “3005” by Childish Gambino – you’d definitely hear this one through his car stereo, along with “Am I Wrong” by Anderson .Paak and “The Spins” by Mac Miller.
We get to see Trent’s mom, Christina, in a few scenes, and he seems to be close with his family, so we know some oldies find their way onto his aux from time to time. We could see him liking more upbeat rock, like “Owner of a Lonely Heart” by Yes and funkier, synth rock, like “Holding Out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler. You also can’t forget about Trent’s love for Adele, so we wouldn’t be surprised to hear him belting out her ballad “Set Fire to the Rain.”
