Olivia Rodrigo Deja Vu music video

Olivia Rodrigo is no longer driving through the suburbs. She’s since moved on to the California coastline in her second single Deja Vu. The new single and the music video was released following her instant hit single “Drivers License”, which remained at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for eight consecutive weeks.

The Deja Vu music video is directed by Allie Avital, executive produced by Elizabeth Doonan, and produced by Matisse Gaillard. Olivia Rodrigo stars in the video along with Talia Ryder as Olivia’s ex’s new girlfriend.

Deja Vu speaks about special and quirky moments that are shared with someone, that are then reused with the next person your ex is in a relationship with. Olivia sings lyrics such as “So when you gonna tell her that we did that, too? /She thinks it’s special but it’s overused / That was our place, I found it first / I made the jokes you tell to her / When she’s with you / Do you get deja vu when she’s with you?” that highlight her feelings in regards to the shared experiences she and her ex’s new girlfriend now have.

The music video starts out with Olivia driving on a highway listing all the things she and her ex used to do. Then questioning if he is doing that with his new girlfriend. The gaze in the video turns to the girlfriend, Talia, as we observe Olivia become obsessed with her. We witness Olivia watching Talia on television screens, and copying her outfits. Towards the end of the video it is revealed that the girls actually have a shared infatuation with each other. It leads to what seems to be a shared identity- becoming unclear who is who.

Deja Vu is off of Olivia’s debut album which is coming out on May 21st! Olivia Rodrigo continues to captivate her audience with her music, and her album is sure to be a smashing success.
