Season 2 of HSMTMTS is coming to Disney+ in May!

HSMTMTS (High School Musical: The Musical: The series) finally has a season two premiere date! Disney+ announced on Wednesday morning that it will be returning on Friday, May 14. And we could not be more excited for this!

There was a shutdown down and protocols around filming the second season of HSMTMTS. So this premiere date is later than was originally anticipated from the cast and crew.

It is said that this season will be featured around the East High Wild Cats. They are preparing to perform their spring musical “Beauty and the Beast.” And at the same time facing off against their rival school North High in order to win a student theatre competition. A heavier social media presence is also said to be shown on the show. And become a bigger part of the storyline this season as the characters navigate it.

Season one was filled with amazing songs that everyone loved, and we are sure this upcoming season will not disappoint. Season two will feature new solos written by Olivia Ridrigo, who gained much notoriety from her hit single “Drivers License” which has been number one on the charts for weeks. New solos will also be written by Joshua Bassett.

Season two will continue to star Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, Sofia Wylie, Matt Cornett, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Reneé, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Mark St. Cyr and Kate Reinders from the first season. In addition, Derek Hough, Olivia Rose Keegan, Roman Banks, Andrew Barth Feldman and Asher Angel added as guest stars and brand new characters to this upcoming season.

Three months from now may seem a bit far for some of us. So you can refresh yourself on the first season by streaming it on Disney+.

Make sure to catch the premiere of HSMTMTS season 2 on Friday, May 14th on Disney+.
