Sofia Coppola is attached to direct Hans Christian Anderson’s THE LITTLE MERMAID as a live action feature.  The script is being rewritten by Caroline Thompson (The Corpse Bride), a draft having previously been penned by Kelly Marcel – who wrote our favorite holiday season caper Saving Mr Banks.  We’ve heard it’s a much more bleak take than Disney’s 1989 cartoon but nevertheless we can’t wait to see who will play Ariel!
