Fresh out the box – it’s Gabrielle Nevaeh Green! The classic Nickelodeon sketch comedy show All That is back for a new generation. The show premiered this summer and cast member Gabrielle Nevaeh Green is already headed to super-stardom! Fans will definitely recognize her as the only and only Queen Bey as she plays Beyonce on the show. Gabrielle took over YEM’s Instagram this month, and answered some questions for us about being a part of the All That cast. Read her interview below and head to YEM’s Instagram highlights to see her takeover!
Young Entertainment Mag: You’re starring in the new generation of All That! What was your audition process like for the show?
Gabrielle: The audition process was probably one of the hardest processes that I had ever been through. We had to prepare a few original characters and preform a script that was provided for us. It was definitely a tough process but it was definitely rewarding!
YEM: Were you familiar with All That before being cast on the show?
Gabrielle: I was familiar with the original show before I was cast. A few months before my audition, my dad had introduced me to “Good Burger” the movie and I instantly fell in love. After re-watching the movie about 6 or 7 times, I started doing research and found that the movie was actually based off of a sketch called “Good Burger” from a show called “All That”!
YEM: What has been your favorite sketch or character on the show so far?
Gabrielle: That’s a hard one! There’s been so many sketches and characters that I’ve fell in love with this season, but my top two would have to be my Beyoncé impression, Coffee Coffee Coffee, and Literally Liza. All three sketches and characters are so different but are all a blast to portray!
YEM: Were you always interested in doing a comedy show?
Gabrielle: I’ve always loved and been interested in comedy. But it wasn’t until I had begun transitioning my career from theatre to Television and film did I ever consider comedy to be a career. I liked auditioning for dramatic roles, and I still do. But the more comedic roles and projects that I went out on, the more and more that I fell in love with the multi-cam world.
YEM: The original cast of All That has guest starred on the show. What was it like meeting the original cast members?
Gabrielle: It is such a blessing to be able to work with such comedic legends. Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Josh Server, and Lori Beth have all been so supportive and kind towards us and we really appreciate their ongoing support.
YEM: Did they give you any advice about being on the show?
Gabrielle: The first piece of advice that I received from the original cast was from Kel Mitchell. I remember it was the first time the cast and I had ever met Mr. Kel and he literally welcomed us with open arms. He told us all that this job is not what made you special, you were born special before you were cast.
YEM: What was it like when you met your fellow cast members for the first time? Did you meet any of them at your audition?
Gabrielle: It was crazy, it was like we had already known each other for a really long time. Chinguun and I had already known each other from a stand-up class that we both attended so it was definitely awesome to see him at our first meeting. I had also tested with Ryan, Reece and Kate so I knew them from the entire audition process. Kate and I actually exchanged numbers at the last audition so we could keep in touch, little did we know we’d be seeing each other every day of the week for 10 hours all summer long!
YEM: Finally, if you could have anyone guest star on All That, who would you want and why?
Gabrielle: I would definitely want Beyoncé and Ariana Grande to make a guest appearance on the show. Beyoncé is so iconic and such an inspiration for girls of all ages and it would just be an honor to have her on the show. I’ve also been a big fan of Ariana Grande ever since I saw her for the first time on “Sam and Cat” so it would be very, very exciting to have her on the show too!
