The Neighbors Recap

The Neighbors imageThe Neighbors has been billed as the best show you’re not watching this season. If the “Challoweenukah” episode doesn’t convince you, nothing will. In “Challoweenukah” The Weavers get Halloween party invites from a super-obnoxious couple in town. They’re not going to go, but once they hear there’s a costume contest, they launch a single-minded campaign to crush the obnoxious couple. As the Bird-Kersees set up their Halloween decorations, which are extensive, to say the least, Larry bursts in and announces that he’s just found out about Chanukkah. He’s amazed, especially by the idea of a multi-day celebration. I MEAN THERE ARE 8 DAYS. When Dick mentions he wishes Halloween was eight days, Larry gets an idea: Challoweenukah. When no one shows up for the first seven nights of the new holiday, Larry decides to publicize it by giving out candy to kids at the local playground. A man giving candy to kids out of a sketchy van at a playground? That’s not suspicious at all. Larry ends up getting into some hot water with the police for his efforts. Meanwhile, Marty and Debbie’s arch-nemesis couple challenges them to a family Halloween costume contest. Eventually all is resolved, although don’t anticipate Challoweenukah to catch on as a national holiday anytime soon. Keep The Neighbors on the air and tune in Tuesday nights on ABC.
