The Vampire Diaries, S05E11 – “500 Years of Solitude”

For the episode entitled 500 Years of Solitude, there were a lot of miscellaneous characters kicking around this week.  The episode starts with Damon, having dumped Elena, on a drinking mission with the boys to celebrate Katherine’s impending death.  Elena, Bonnie and Caroline arrive and join the party.   Stefan defends Katherine to the gang, and Damon drunkenly lets slip that Stefan and Katherine slept together before.  Nadia arrives and says that she needs help saving Katherine’s life.  Just to be sure the others cooperate, Nadia’s holding Matt hostage inside a tiny safe on the property.    Elena and Stefan volunteer, and Nadia tells them she is going to let Katherine take over her body.  The others go looking for Matt, and Bonnie and Jeremy let slip to Caroline that they slept together. Caroline wanders off alone and stumbles across Klaus in the woods.

Nadia takes Elena and Stefan to a house and reveals they are the sacrifice to Mia for Mia helping Katherine take Nadia’s body.  All of a sudden, Stefan and Elena are prisoners about to get ambushed by some creepy travelers.  But no worries, the travelers just want some doppelganger blood before sending Stefan and Elena on their merry way.  Meanwhile Klaus reveals that he knew where Matt was all along; Rebekah has gone to rescue him.  Klaus gets Caroline to admit that she feels a connection with him before he will agree to leave.  They end up hooking up and suddenly it appears that nobody in the town of Mystic Falls has been wearing any pants, ever.

Nadia arrives at Katherine’s bedside to save her, but Katherine will not let Nadia sacrifice herself.   Rebekah doesn’t hang around after saving Matt, but Tyler has returned in her place.   And Ric puts in a random guest appearance just to cheers Damon even though Damon can’t see him.  Elena goes to see Katherine and forgives her for all of her transgressions, but just as she’s being so nice, Katherine goes and spoils it by putting a spell on her and stealing her body.  Will the others to figure out that something’s up with Elena?  What do the travelers want with Elena and Stefan’s blood?  And will Katherine please just die?  Tune in next time to find out.
