Each week, an accomplished published author takes over the YEM Twitter account. Each week, the YA author will answer questions, tell stories, and give advice on our social media. This week young adult author Isabella Allen will be taking over our Twitter account.

Isabella Allen grew up on a twenty-five acre property in Texas, where she still lives with her parents, older sister, younger brother, and rescue mutt, Paisley. She developed a love for animals and exploring at a very early age, but her real adventuring didn’t start until she started venturing deeper into the property with her younger cousin as a teenager. Isabella was inspired by all of the amazing things they discovered and decided that one day she would take more people through the barbed wire and on an adventure by writing a book.

That led to the release of her book, Through The Barbed Wire. It revolves around Isla who loves her life with her dad on their sprawling Texas ranch. What it lacks in people, it more than makes up for in animals and wildlife. All the creatures in the woods and fields are Isla’s trusted friends, and she speaks their language almost better than her own. When a new family moves in near the property, Isla begins to realize the value and fun in having friends more like her. Meeting her new friend Cash is its own adventure, and she starts to introduce him to her favorite parts of the ranch. But soon, Isla starts realizing odd things out of place, and then fires begin to start all across the property. Could it simply be the drought that’s to blame, or is there something more calculated behind it all?
