To start things off, some more casting news on new series The Flash—hunky Prison Break star Wentworth Miller will portray villain Captain Cold in the Arrow spinoff series, one of The Flash’s biggest (and chilliest) adversaries in the comics. Miller will guest as the character in the fourth episode of the show’s debut season this fall.
Moving on, some developments on Vampire Diaries: actor Colin Ferguson will be Season 6’s villain Tripp, the leader of a militia hell-bent on protecting his town. Additionally, Carrie Diaries’ Chris Wood, The Client List’s Marco James, and Hit The Floor’s Jodi Lyn O’keefe are also joining VD’s cast!
One of the more wave-making pieces of TV casting news this week is the securing of Christopher Walken to play Captain Hook in NBC’s live, on-stage adaptation of Peter Pan. Still no word on who will play the boy who never grew up, but we vote for #MileyCyrus!
In YA book-to-TV news, Lesly Livingston’s beloved YA trilogy Wondrous Strange will be coming to a small screen near you, after the property was recently optioned. The story focuses on a teenage actress in New York City who learns she’s a Faerie princess from another world (how very Sookie Stackhouse of her!) and is forced to embrace her heritage and save the world.
Speaking of Sookie Stackhouse, her onscreen costar Deborah Ann Woll, otherwise known as fire-haired Jessica on TB, has been cast as secretary Karen Page in the Netflix-produced superhero series Daredevil. In other Daredevil news, actor Peter Shinkoda will play a character by the name of Hachiro, who is a new addition to this universe.
Another YA adaptation coming down the pike is Itch, based on the popular teen book series by Simon Mayo about a teen who discovers a brand new chemical element and then tries to get a hold of all the other elements of the periodic table in an attempt to save the world.
