This week YA Author Izzi Breigh took over our Twitter as a part of our weekly Thursday Twitter Takeover. Izzi Breigh is the author of SLEEPWALKERS: Round One (See YEM’s interview of Izzi Breigh here.) See highlights from the takeover below.
Hi Friends! I (@izzibreigh) have a question for you. How did you sleep last night? Do you remember? Was it a good dream…or perhaps, a nightmare? If you didn’t have a nightmare, then it’s not by accident. There’s a lot more to the story. #YAauthorTakeover (1/22)

What if I told you that there’s a world out there that nobody knows about, a place where the coolest and scariest things you can imagine are real, and the only way to get there is to fall asleep? #YAauthorTakeover (2/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
I’m @IzziBreigh, author of the new middle grade horror book, “Sleepwalkers, Round One”, and this is my #YAauthorTakeover. If you’re like me and a fan of darker #fairytales & stories about things that go bump in the night, let me tell you a little more about @SleepwalkerHQ (3/22) pic.twitter.com/R3w8okR31l
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
Let's start with the rules of #sleep: when you fall asleep, the first place you go is Round One. It’s your first stop before #dreaming kicks in. It's like when you’re half asleep and half awake and everything sort of blends together. #YAauthorTakeover (4/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
Round Two is the next stop; you really start #dreaming here and everything becomes…almost real. This is where most people hang when they’re #sleeping, and it's the last stop for adults. #YAauthorTakeover (5/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
No adult can cross into Round Three while sleeping, just kids. You'll have the coolest dreams ever here. Wanna skateboard on the moon? Fly over the ocean? That’s where it’s gonna happen. But Round Three is dangerous. That’s why #Sleepwalkers patrol it. #YAauthorTakeover (6/22) pic.twitter.com/MlsHPXCQJT
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
Inzien is a whole different bag of awesome and #scary. It’s beyond dreams. It’s the world on the other side of dreams. Only a Sleepwalker can get into Inzien. And that's where our story is set…well there, and a scary old house in #Connecticut . #YAauthorTakeover (7/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
You see, our hero, 11-year-old Ellie Dasher is the new owner of the scariest house on the block. It’s called “the Old Sleep” by everyone in town. She and her younger brother Elijah inherit it from a grandmother they've never met. #YAauthorTakeover (8/22) pic.twitter.com/jT9pb8ULby
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
The Old Sleep doesn’t belong on a street full of kid-friendly homes. It looms over the neighborhood like a hulking bully made of stone and surrounded by a rusted iron fence to keep people out. Or to keep people in. And boy, does this house have secrets! #YAauthorTakeover (9/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
There’s the local legend about an unexplainable death, a strange nursery rhyme left presumably by Ellie’s grandmother, and an imaginary friend that visits Ellie in her sleep #YAauthorTakeover (10/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
But Ellie isn’t like most kids her age who would be frightened by such things. She loves mysteries and can’t wait to figure out all of the secrets within the walls of the Old Sleep. #YAauthorTakeover (11/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
And she’s not the only one who seems to be as curious as her about her new home. A local boy who proudly goes by the name of Hat is eager to get a look inside the infamous house. #YAauthorTakeover (12/22) pic.twitter.com/XldeuM7zbn
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
Hat pops up all over the place: at school, walking home, and even befriends her little brother. But Ellie knows this isn't a coincidence. Hat wants to snoop around the Old Sleep. Sure, he can charm everyone else, but she isn't fooled #YAauthorTakeover (13/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
Meanwhile, Ellie dreams of her imaginary friend, who she names #Ghost. They explore the house nightly which only leads to more questions. She wonders why a grandmother she has never met would leave such a mysterious house to her and her brother? #YAauthorTakeover (14/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
One night, Ellie and her brother are attacked in the house. No parents come to their aid. Ellie can't see the snarling attackers but she can feel their breath, claws, teeth. She watches helplessly as her brother is dragged away by invisible creatures. #YAauthorTakeover (15/22) pic.twitter.com/LoMr9sQbes
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
Ellie awakes with a gasp, realizing it was only a #nightmare. She checks on her brother and finds him asleep in his bed. But in the morning, something is very wrong. Her brother doesn’t wake up. #YAauthorTakeover (16/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
Ellie knows something happened to her brother while they were asleep and must wake him before it’s too late. But how? Is Hat involved? The Old Sleep? Ghost? Or perhaps her grandmother's odd poem holds some clues? Maybe you can help her by reading it here #YAauthorTakeover (17/22)
— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
“Off to bed,” the parents said
All over the world tonight.
Once asleep, the children leap
To take a dreaming flightWith just a nick to do the trick
And hide a name that’s true
In a place without a trace
Of the waking life they knew.#YAauthorTakeover (18/22)— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
Beyond the Rounds, beware the hounds
Where secrets and shadows play.
Children get lost. Every name has a cost
In this dangerous place to stray.#YAauthorTakeover (19/22)— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
Yet, in the morn of a new day born
They wake and rise anew.
How do they come back with their selves intact?
It’s a mystery with never a clue."#YAauthorTakeover (20/22)— Young Entertainment Magazine (@YoungEntmag) March 17, 2022
I’ll give you some time to think about my grandmother’s odd poem. If you have any ideas, share them with me here, on my social media, or grab the book which may shed light on this #mystery. But be warned… this is one of many mysteries left to uncover. #YAauthorTakeover (21/22)
