The CW’s superhero family is getting bigger and stronger this fall with the addition of The Flash, starring the amazing Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash. Grant, who was trained The Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk, Virginia, has been seen in a few high profile roles in the last few years.
After a few appearances on TV shows like CSI: Miami and A Haunting, Grant’s first big television role came on Glee, where he played Sebastian Smythe, an openly gay member of The New Directions’ biggest rival, The Dalton Academy Warblers. Sebastian stirred up a lot of drama for Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss), attempting to break them up to take Blaine for himself.
Next, Grant had a brief run on the final season of The CW’s 90210 as Campbell Price, a college student who was the leader the Cronus Society, a secret society for the privileged and elite. Much like Grant’s role on Glee, Campbell manipulated and schemed his way through his entire 8 episode arc.
Grant’s first major film role was in this past summer’s sleeper indie drama Affluenza, which centers around a group of wealthy teens living in an affluent Long Island community in the months leading up to the 2008 financial crisis. The film also stars Ben Rosenfield (Boardwalk Empire), Gregg Sulkin (Faking It), and Nicola Peltz (Bates Motel).
This past spring, Grant made his first appearance as Barry Allen on Arrow. Barry, a crime scene investigator from Central City with a troubled family history, is brought in to consult on a case in Starling City, although later it is revealed that Barry was not sent on official business, but rather hoped to gain clues about his family’s mysterious past. He later intervenes on a life-threatening situation for Oliver (Stephen Amell), and learns that Oliver is The Arrow.
Grant continues his role as Barry Allen on The Flash, which will undoubtedly be just as exciting and buzz-worthy as Arrow. Arrow premieres on Tueday, October 7 at 8:00 on The CW, and don’t forget to catch up on season 1 and season 2 on Amazon.com!
