Who’s Who In HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl” Reboot

HBO Max’s new original series Gossip Girl is rebooting the series nine years after the original series ended. With a whole new cast and a whole new attitude, it’s time to get to know who is going to be in the show and insight into the new characters. The reboot, set in the same universe as the original, will go beyond the original CW hit and into more mature territory that fans will be willing to see. It will also be incorporating LGBTQ+ themes, diversity, social media culture and what it means to be rich in modern society.

Kristin Bell as Gossip Girl

XOXO. The Gossip Girl itself is back and now in Instagram form. Kristen Bell portrayed the voice of Gossip Girl throughout the original series and is back as the voice once more. Kristen Bell is no stranger to voice acting having been the voice of Anna in the Disney’s Frozen series and has been in shows such as cult hit Veronica Mars and House of Lies. Bell is also known for her love of sloths and her marriage to husband Dax Shepard.

Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey Hope

Emily Alyn Lind has quite a young career already set out for her. She had a role in the Netflix horror comedy film The Babysitter and its sequel The Babysitter: Killer Queen as Melanie, the best friend to main character Cole in that film. She started her child acting career in the hit ABC show Revenge being the younger counterpart to Emily VanCamp’s Amanda Cole character in flashbacks. In Gossip Girl, she will be the main character leading the reboot as Audrey Hope. Little is known about her character as are many of the characters of the series beyond the trailer.

Evan Mock as Aki Menzies

The boyfriend of Audrey Hope in the reboot, Aki Menzies is associated with the word “innocence” and not much else. Mock, however, has quite the interesting life starting. He is a well-known skater and after that went viral via a meeting with singer Frank Ocean in a video about his pink hair style. Mock also established himself as quite the photographer. He was sought out for Travis Scott’s AstroWorld tour after Scoot saw his Instagram feed. Hopefully these real life hobbies and connections come to play in the bigger picture of the reboot.

Whitney Peak as Zoya Lott

Whitney Peak is still a newcomer, but will be familiar to those who have watch Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. In Gossip Girl, she will be the new girl Zoya Lott at Constance Billard school and could be linked to the return of the Gossip girl. Lott will be integrated into the world of the rich and privileged with insight into their drama and ongoings. Maybe they could be the new Gossip Girl. It’s all speculation.

Jordan Alexander as Jullien Calloway

Jordan Alexander is a singer-songwriter that hails from Canada and part of the LGBTQ+ community. In the show, she will portray Julien Calloway, an influencer tied to Instagram and model who also attends Constance Billard. She also is the half-sister of the new girl Zoya Lott. Not much has been made mention of her character, but Alexander herself has acted in smaller indie film outings and shows such as Sacred Lies on Facebook Watch.

Zion Moreno as Luna La

Luna La is from Mexico, coming into Constance Billard as a stylist. Zion Moreno herself is an openly transgender woman who has been in the show Control Z on Netflix. She was also seen in the film K-12 that was released alongside Melanie Martinez’s album of the same name. Moreno herself is also a model and was once in the running to be the cover of Sports Illustrated’ Swimsuit Issue, but ended up not gracing the cover.

Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe

Max Wolfe is all about freedom, at least that’s what has been said in the show’s advertising with freedom used to describe him. Thomas Doherty, on the other hand, might be more associated with Disney when it comes to viewers. He appeared in the show The Lodge in the United Kingdom and as Harry Hook in the Descendants musical franchise. He also briefly dated actress Dove Cameron for quite a bit before splitting up in 2020. The mystery of Max Wolfe will unravel in the reboot to give viewers a clue into what he is about.

Savannah Lee Smith as Monet de Hann

If this name is not familiar, that’s because this reboot is actually Savannah Lee Smith’s debut work. In a cast of relative unknowns (in the mainstream that is), she stands out among the pack. She came straight from drama school and into the world of Gossip Girl. Just like the actress, not much is known of Monet de Hann currently at the moment. This will come to light once the series gets on a roll.

Eli Brown as Obie Bergmann IV

Like the other characters of the series, not much is known about Obie Bergmann IV outside of the word association given to him in the ad campaign. That word itself is “privilege” and will be explored in the new chapter of the series. Eli Brown is still well into his career recently having appeared in the show Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists on Freeform and in the Guy Ritchie film, Wrath of Man.
