On January 15th, the Hallmark Channel released an original series, The Way Home. This time-travel drama follows the three generations of the Landrey women, with Kat and Alice as the main focus of this show. Kat (portrayed by Chyler Leigh) has an estranged relationship with her mother, Del (portrayed by Andie MacDowell). However, a series of events have her return to the family farm with her daughter, Alice, in tow. As the reunion between the two turns for the worst, Alice and Kat discover the hidden ability to travel through time. Both mother and daughter are determined to turn around their lives and change the events that lead to the estrangement for the better. Directed by the minds of Grant Harvey, Norma Bailey, Nimisha Mukerji, and Shamim Sarif, this show that features time travel offers a broken family, mended by time by the very hands that decide to change the fate of the past generations of the Landrey family for something better.

The reception behind the show’s initial release has been positive and is still very high in popularity. The audience states that familial relationships are a core member of the show, followed by different kinds of romance that leave you at the edge of your seat, such as unrequited romance, love triangles, and possibly spanning through the different generations to see what can be changed in the future for the better. Written by the minds of Alexandra Clarke, Heather Conkie, Tally Knoll, Marly Reed, Kyle Hart, and Jessica Runck, fans are eager to see what the show has to offer. With the tagline “What if the only way forward…is to go back?” and staying connected to what’s true of the show, fans were ecstatic to hear that the Hallmark Channel had decided to renew the show for a second season. There is not much known about the 2nd season’s release date, but fans are hoping for it to come soon.

Here’s a refresher on Sadie! A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, and renowned for her role as Alice in The Way Home, Sadie has been involved in other different shows and films before the show’s release such as Emma Conrad from Love Triangle Nightmare, Esmeralda from The Apprentice, Beth from Sinister Switch, and a few more shows/films after that.

We start by asking Sadie about her thoughts about the show before she auditioned, including her thoughts on her character, Alice. Sadie mentions that when she initially auditioned for the show, she knew that she’ll meet Andie MacDowell, and she was very excited about that. Upon receiving the role, she talks about how she instantly felt a connection with her character Alice. From the get-go, Sadie understands Alice, and what she is going through, and knows that Alice is a sweet, caring, loving individual with metaphorical walls around her heart. When asked about the time-traveling feature in the show and its challenges, Sadie talks about how when you’re shooting a show that features time travel, it’s difficult to keep track of two different timelines at once. She does mention that it’s a team effort, however. Sadie happily tells us how she, Chyler Leigh, and Evan Williams would work together, as their respective characters (Kat and Elliot) would know about the respective timelines while keeping track of the details. Sadie also mentions how the showrunners, Alex and Heather, would have everything organized and make sure that everything makes sense. Curious to know more?
