YE’s TOP 5 Returning Shows of 2024

In addition to new content that premiered this year, we had new seasons from some of YE’s favorite binge-worthy shows. Here are our favorite shows that returned in 2024:

1. Outer Banks

The Pogues returned for their fourth season as they headed back to OBX and built their own “Poguelandia 2.0” to live together and run a bait and tackle shop. But after some financial setbacks, the group takes up Wes Genrette’s offer to find Blackbeard’s treasure and are drawn back into a whole new adventure. Our favorite ships returned alongside some new drama and action, and ended with that heartbreaking moment we still can’t stop talking about. We talked with new cast member Mia Challis to learn more about working with the star studded cast and filming those iconic scenes. The show’s fifth and final season was also announced, set to begin filming in 2025.

2. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place

The Disney nostalgia returned this year as Wizards of Waverly Place follows Justin Russo as he embraces mortality to live a normal life with his family. This lifestyle is challenged when a powerful young wizard named Billie comes to him in search of training and Justin’s mentorship. David Henrie is back including cameos from Selena Gomez, David DeLouise, Maria Canals-Barrera, and a potential appearance from Gregg Sulkin.

3. Rykter (Rumor)

Rykter arrived onto the scene and took fans by storm, with season three of the Swedish drama released this year. The series is based on the life of Erik Nielsen, who moves to the fictional island Vesterøy to live with his mother where he tries to hide the reason why he had to move, but rumors also seem to catch up! Two of our most popular interviews this year were with Benjamin Ebbesen who plays Erik and Teo Tomczuk who plays Mathias, and both actors told us their most fun moments on set and teased what to expect from season four.

4. I Woke up a Vampire

Vampires, werewolves, mysteries, oh my! In I Woke Up a Vampire, Carmie Henley discovers she is half human, half vampire on her 13th birthday, which makes her middle school experience that much more complicated. The show’s second season debuted earlier this year, and from our interview with Niko Ceci who plays Kev, it was evident how much fun the cast had on set. Niko described season two as unique, entertaining, mysterious and different.

5. Heartbreak High

In Heartbreak High, the students and teachers of Hartley High navigate romance, teen angst, racial and gender tension, and social and familial problems. The show’s second season came out this year and we fell in love with it for its incredible representation and relatable storylines. We also chatted with actors Asher Yasbincek and Gemma Chua-Tran to learn more about their favorite behind-the-scenes moments with the cast.
