About the Album: Although her career really took off last year, this self-titled EP, to be released February 25th, is actually the singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist’s fourth album. The record was recorded in Dallas with Dap-Kings drummer Homer Steinweiss and Midlake percussionist McKenzie Smith. On the album the songstress said,”I knew the groove needed to be paramount…I wanted to make a party record you could play at a funeral.” While we wouldn’t go that dark, it’s definitely a funky mix of laid-back yet thoroughly groovy tunes.
Single Spotlight: “Birth In Reverse” has been tearing up airwaves with good reason. It’s unique yet totally listenable. It’s on repeat and not coming off until well into next year. |
