Actress Mika Abdalla Facetimes us to talk playing Allie in new Off Campus show based on book series by Elle Kennedy

Hockey romance fans, you’re being fed again with the highly anticipated Off Campus series, based on the books of the same name by Elle Kennedy, releasing on Prime Video on May 13th! We chatted exclusively with actress Mika Abdalla who stars as Allie in the series to learn more about what fans of the book series can look forward to, her experience playing Allie, and what a potential season 2 could explore.

Off Campus season 1 chronicles the unexpected love story between Hannah Wells, a music student and Garrett Graham, the university’s star hockey player. Ella Bright stars as Hannah and Belmont Carneli plays Garrett.

“There’s little easter eggs from book 2 in season one.”

Mika is a rising star and first came onto the scene in her role as McKeyla McAlister in the Netflix series Project Mc². She has since appeared in the films Sex Appeal and Snack Shack.

While Off Campus is a five-book series and season 1 of the show mainly follows Garrett and Hannah’s love story, the show explores elements of multiple of the books and characters. Mika said she thinks fans of the books will be surprised by how funny it is, combined with those heartfelt moments.

“I think fans will be surprised by how funny the show is.”

Mika said she was super excited to play Allie because she is a ball of energy, and it reminded her a lot of one of her best friends in her own life who has provided that support and love. Add Allie to the list of iconic TV besties now!

“Allie is me on my most energetic day.”

In her prep to play Allie, Mika listened to a lot of girlie pop anthems from Abba, Sabrina Carpenter, Remi Wolf and Chappell Roan. She also spent a lot of time with Ella Bright which made their character’s friendship on screen that much stronger!

“Ella is so musically inclined and has the best music taste ever.”

While there is no confirmed news of a season 2, Mika said she would love another season to explore more of Hannah and Garrett’s relationship. Fingers crossed for this!
