Sam Underwood’s Many Faces

Complex, layered, unpredictable, dynamic, and often very dangerous…these and many more adjectives can be used to describe the characters of British actor Sam Underwood, who has enjoyed key roles on not one, not two, but three huge hit shows of late. From Dexter and Homeland to The Following, Sam has turned quite a few heads, including ours.

Things started off with a bang, as it were, when Sam was introduced in the final season of Dexter as creepy Zach, a ‘protégé’ of sorts who may take over the reigns from family man/killer Dexter. In Homeland, Sam plays Leo, a troubled young man who is a surprising comfort to Dana when she finds herself in a mental ward. Cynical and angsty, Dana senses a kindred spirit in Leo. But it is in Season 2 of The Following where Underwood is really able to flex his muscles, playing not one but two crazy killers, the twins Mark and Luke who are followers of Joe Carroll and do characteristically unspeakable and infamous things.
