Arrow S02E15 “The Promise”

Arrow image

The episode begins where last week’s episode left off: Slade is at Moira’s house and Oliver is there too, looking on helplessly.  Cue more flashbacks to Oliver running, shooting and being a general action man on the island with Slade’s help.  I’ve said it before: no amount of sharp shooting excuses that terrible hairpiece.  Oliver, Slade and Sara are plotting to get onto the freighter so that they can get off the island.  Oliver is warning Sara off the miracuru; the three of them decide to burn it so that Ivo doesn’t get it.  Offline, Sara tells Oliver that Slade might want to kill Anthony for Shado, and he might convince Slade that it’s Oliver’s fault because he chose Sara to live.  Oliver needs to kill Ivo before that happens.  The next morning they set a trap for Ivo – but Ivo catches Oliver and forces him to give up the others after injecting him with truth serum.  Luckily, Oliver’s misspent youth as a drugger means that he’s well prepared to fake Ivo out and he sends him on a wild goose chase whilst Slade and Sara make it onto the ship and Oliver overpowers his guards and joins them.  Back in the present day, Thea comes home and now Slade has the whole family at his mercy.  Oliver puts in a stealth call to Felicity; Sara is at the lair and tells the others that Oliver and is family is in danger.  Roy happens to be there filling out the hard body contingent, and is only too pleased to go flipmode to protect Thea.  They take a big gun also so that Diggle can take a shot at Slade from afar.  In the flashback, Slade comes in and Anthony manages to get the story to him that it’s Oliver’s fault Shado.  Slade is about to kill them both but all hell has broken loose on the ship and Oliver gets away.  He finds Sara and tells her to get back to the island, another botched escape attempt, before Slade recaptures him.  Slade has Anthony on the verge of killing Oliver but he changes his mind at the last moment.  Psyche!  Slade promises he’s going to kill Oliver later … after he has suffered.  Back in the present, Roy and Sara arrive at the house … you can see the wheels turning in  Slade’s mind as he decides that now isn’t the time to kill the Queen family.  Oliver walks to the car with Slade and asks what he wants.  The answer is simple … Slade made a promise to get his revenge on Oliver, and he shall.  Slade also mentions that he knows Diggle was lying in wait to shoot him, and one of his men has now taken Diggle.  The last scene of this episode is Slade keeping an eye on the Queen family; on his little visit this afternoon he planted tiny hidden cameras all over the house the better to spy.  How and when will he try to make Oliver suffer?  Tune in next time to find out!
