Glee S05E11 “City of Angels”

Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Blaine (Darren Criss) check out the stiff competition at Nationals.

This week’s episode of Glee, entitled “City of Angels” had a two-fold purpose. One was to prepare viewers for the show’s upcoming PERMANENT move to NYC. The second was to provide another tribute to Finn Hudson, their late co-director. The show was successful on both fronts, even if the New Directions didn’t win nationals. Their loss made the dedication even more poignant, as what really mattered to them was not winning the trophy, but rather preserving the memory of Finn.

Compounding the emotional tribute was the presence of Finn’s mother Carole and stepfather Burt at the performance. Fan-favorite Mercedes, now living in Los Angeles, also attended the performance. Sue dissolves the club since they didn’t win nationals, keeping good on her promise from earlier in the season and allowing the show to fully transition to New York. Do you think this is the last show competition we’ve seen out of our gleeks? We, unfortunately, do. Did you find the tribute touching? Tweet us your #NewDirectionGoodbyes @YAmzine.
