Parenthood S5E17 “Limbo”

The Bravermans struggle to navigate their way through a totally awkward family meal.

There’s never a dull moment in Parenthood. This week saw a baptism and a blowout. We start with Renee wanting to get Aida baptized. Her parents cave because Renee was on a warpath. Renee’s going to host the baptism which upsets Camille but she plans a dinner the night before to bring the family together. A little tension ensues as to who is going to be the godparents. Crosby realizes that he had previously asked Joel and Julia but considering the state of their relationship, that doesn’t seem like the best option anymore. Joel gracefully bows out. Crosby asks Adam and he is thrilled to accept.

Julia finds out and is really upset that Joel abdicated. She asks why he isn’t fighting for his family or for her. Joel’s at a loss.  Sarah is still working closely with Hank and now Carl is out of the picture things are getting flirtatious. Max shows up and breaks up a heated moment. Hank sort of backs Max up, which is refreshing.

Drew is pining hard for Natalie and turns to Amber for a little comfort and they end up getting wasted. The duo realize they missed dinner and race home. The family sit down for the night before dinner and things blow up. Julia reveals that Adam was second choice for godfather. Kristina blows the cover on the kids for being stoned and Sarah learns the house is on the market.

Zeek confronts Joel and for the second time he has to face what people are telling him about not being a family man. Zeek gets through to him because at the baptism, Joel shows up even though he’s not the godfather. Do you think that Joel’s a changed man? Do you think he and Julia will work it out? We’re not sure about he and Julia but it looks like he’s making some changes for the better. Tweet us your #ParenthoodPredictions about Joel and the rest of the Bravermans @YAmzine!
