Paula Abdul – Straight Up // Faking It, Season 1 Episode 8

At Farrah and Bruce’s wedding Karma and Amy bust out a serious routine to this song, which is ‘their song’. Ironic title given the couple. You might best remember Paula Abdul for her kooky behavior on American Idol, but back in the 80’s and early 90’s she had a huge pop career, having been discovered by the Jackson 5 cheering at an LA Lakers game. Check out her music video below for a blast of big hair!

Kat Krazy (feat Elkka) – Siren // Degrassi, Season 13 Episode 32

This punchy tune is playing after Clare and Drew have it out over their hook up in Degrassi. The song was released a year ago, but with its frenetic beat it still feels very danceable! Kat Krazy hails from the UK, and has been doing all sorts of remixes for artists including Bastille, Coldplay and Foster the People. He’s somebody to watch over the coming year.

Autre Ne Veut – Warning // Faking It, Season 1 Episode 8

This song is playing as a drunken Liam and Amy hook up after Karma has hurt them both. Something tells us that they’re going to regret this in the morning, and the lyrics seem to agree with us. In spite of his French sounding name (Autre Ne Veut translates as ‘I want no other’), Autre Ne Veut is in fact a New York City dweller by the name of Arthur Ashin. ‘Warning’ comes from his second album, Anxiety, which was released in 2013.

Carousel – Close My Eyes // Awkward, Season 4 Episode 9

This song plays as Eva and Matty fool around in Jenna’s room whilst they are sending an email from her computer. It has a youthfully romantic feel and reminds us of ‘Boys of Summer’ by Don Henley. It’s definitely a ‘shades on, roof back’ summer song. Carousel are two west coast boys who formed a band in 2011 and on their ‘about’ page on Facebook list ‘making people dance’ as an activity. Sums it up pretty well!

Laurel – Blue Blood // Beauty and the Beast, Season 2 Episode 19

This track is a haunting piano accompanied peace that plays as Vincent and Cat kiss on the roof. Laurel sounds somewhat like Lana Del Ray, except her voice has a softer, more whispery quality. We love it though, and Laurel is currently signed to the same label as white hot pop mistress Iggy Azalea so surely her star is in ascendance.
